Would not but this product since it has not been updated and does not function with the latest OS and latest updates of 10.5. Was okay in its day but now long in the tooth.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />At least on my G4 Powerbook Al, running Leopard (15.2.1), the KSR icon is clearly visible in my dock. If I try to remove it, it resists. If I click on it, the KSR App Editor is revealed, giving away the keystroke monitoring. This is awkward, to say the least. Also, I downloaded the software and installed it, then used PayPal to buy the $29 shareware. But there are no instructions regarding how to obtain and install the registration number I need to use KSR for more than a token demo of 25 characters or less. Thank you. Bob Jacobson

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I'll give it <b>four stars</b> because it does everything it promises to do. For my purposes, though, it's less than perfect...and I'm making that comment after more than one year of using KSR. I use it to save my keystrokes against the contingency of an application crash or some other screw-up that causes me to lose my unsaved work. In that application, KSR is not ideal, because it literally inserts a character in the saved keystroke text file every time a key is pressed...even the <b>delete</b> key. <p>That's useless for any application I can think of, but particularly for mine. The recording of the <i>little square box character</i> for each activation of the <b>delete</b> key only adds noise to the saved text and requires prohibitive amounts of surgery in order to excise that noise in recovering lost work. If that bug is fixed, this will be a <b>five-star app</b>, and worth every penny of the $40 licensing fee. <p>The best application that I know of for my purposes was an old Control Panel called <b>Last Resort</b>, which worked like gangbusters when it was released under Mac OS 6.x, and continues to work superbly through Mac OS 9.2.2. Unfortunately, it's a no-go on OS X, and the company that wrote it (Mind Vision Software) has long since disappeared. <p>I've sent a message directly to Hal Gumbert, the developer of Keystroke Recorder, requesting a couple of options for fixes to the annoying delete key character problem described above. Hal has been very responsive in the past, and I have no reason to believe that he'll be any less responsive in this case. I'll post the results of that communication here.
