Paid version will allow you to stop it before it crashes, and save some of the files.
Cons
Crashes before it finishes scanning your backup file. No log or recovery data. You can stop it before it crashes, but you can't resume, contrary to the advertisement. No support! Paid $89 for unsupported garbage! Don't be fooled by the progress bar. If you stop it before it crashes, you won't get to save most of the files, and many of the files it finds will have incorrect filenames full of Chinese or other east Asian Unicode characters.

Fly-by-night software ripoff!<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on May 25, 2014<p/>To be fair, I was not sufficiently careful before buying this. They provide an eval. version, which I used to scan one of my backup files, but not the big one. It seemed to successfully scan the corrupted backup file that I tested, but it would not allow me to open any of the files -- no way to see what any of those files contained. As it turns out, the archive that I scanned with the evaluation version did not contain the scripts that I was looking for. The backup file that I needed to scan was, like the one I scanned with the eval. ed., generated by Backup running under Windows XP, which had reached a condition where it needed to be re-installed. Both the eval. and purchased ed. of Kernel for BKF were run on a new Windows 7 Pro computer. Both crashed when run against the big archive. Finally reached support. They said I should run K for BKF on a Windows XP machine. I did, for over 48 hours. Finally, I stopped it. It had not found my scripts, and I could not resume.
Don't waste your time.

No Pro's. just another scam company trying to fool you into downloading a "useless trial" of their software. I refuse to do business with this type of company.
Cons
The the only way they can get people to download is to deceive them by thinking this is a working copy of their software.
