The application itself looks more like a Mac application now, but in my humble opinion, it is nothing but a nice face lift. I find the new feature list, with the broken axis as an exception, mostly cosmetic. No real additions have been introduced (although it has been promised in the past) to allow a student/teacher/scientist to communicate with (say) Mathematica tables, export in vectorized eps, import/export Tex formulas, etc... I will definitely keep using (and higly recommend) the version in hand v.3.6.4, but the question if the v.3.6.4-&gt;v.4.0 upgrade is worth $60 is left quite open...

It's a pretty powerful piece of software, and when used in conjunction with OS X's built-in ability to print anything to PDF, it can produce some excellent-looking, scalable graphs. The biggest problem I have is that the interface is clearly based in OS 9, and in some places is just atrocious. Manipulating the actual layout of the graph is just a pain in the ass (come on, no inline text editing?). Also, its inability to produce good-looking mathematics, even basic ones, can clash horribly when the graphs are put into a LaTeX lab report, and I haven't found a way to put resolution-independent PDF's in created with LaTeX Equation Editor. I'd really like to see its interface redone by the Omni folks.
