• Nice clean java editor but has some major flaws

  The editor will compile and run your java code with just a click of the button. Plus the errors are displayed in the program making it easier to find and edit them

  Cons

  Unless you set the path variables on your computer this program will not work. But if you are compiling enough code to use this program you should have that set anyways. There is a MAJOR program with saving. If you click the "save as" by mistake then click cancel and hit the save button, the program will have an error and close itself. The big problem with this is that your work will be deleted even if you have saved it earlier. So keep back up copies in another location

  When Javapad is opened, I get a run-time error "failed to load ...richtx32.ocx" I have XP SP2 and the file in question is ver 5.01.4319. What is the version supposed to be?

  This program neccesitates that you set up that the java bin directory is included in the PATH environment variable. If this is not done it has no way to specify the path exclicitly and doesn't tell you this at the time. If no other tools are suitable I may come back and do this, but it otherwise looks OK.

  Component 'COMDLG32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.... obviously this software was never tested on any other systems besides the developers, or else he would have realized he has to include this stuff.

  This is an excellent tool for writing and compiling Java code. Could have done with an option to change the font but otherwise this is just what I was looking for.

  I hate to bash a product because I can't get it to work, but I think the author could have better explained the setup. I placed the necessary files in the directory with my Java compiler, and it incorrectly called javac (which works manually). Even if you can get this one to work, JCreator is a better option, with colored text and the ability to multitask.
