iPodVolumeBooster is a program which acts as a workaround for the volume limited iPods sold in Europe, which are restricted to 100 decibels of sound output. In order to perform this, the program changes a database which is commonly maintained by the iPod. This means that the MP3 / AAC files carried by the iPod will not be touched.

...on iPod Nano 3rd Gen
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.

I just installed the newest version of iPodVolumeBooster with a relief that it works on my new 8 GB Nano 3rd Gen since the history says that it works with the new iPod Classic, thinking that the two iPods have the same or very similar software for the volume. To my surprise it doesn't work and all the contents of my Nano is corrupt I have to restore it and sync my music again. Since it is only 8 GB it doesn't matter much (I remember when I had to restore my iPod 5th Gen and all the 60 GB had to be synced. That was a chore). I use my new Nano only outside when I am in the city, waiting for the bus, on the bus, train etc. and even with my noise cancelation headphones Sennheiser PXC-250 is the volume extremely low (I don't have bad hearing since when using my Grado headphones that I use at work and with those the volume is not low at all), so this software is essential for me to fully enjoy my iPod when on the go. The various new versions have resolved all problems when new versions of iTunes is introduced, so I am very disappointed that the new version of iPodVolumeBooster for the first time since I have used it doesn't do what they written on their site.

But I am hopeful that they will fix the problem like I am hopeful that Apple will fix the various small an big bugs in the Nano's software.

Don't use this with iPod classic!!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
..it works. Setting it to 50% gives me just that little bit extra. So thanks a lot Tangerine! What's strange though is that iTunes feels the need to export all songs to the iPod yet again.
Also, I would like to thank the EU clowns and the French government in particular for making this possible.
