Maps the info that your iPhone is recording about your movements.
This open-source application maps the information that your iPhone is recording about your movements. It doesn't record anything itself, it only displays files that are already hidden on your computer. If you run it on an OS X machine that you've been syncing with an iPhone or an iPad with cellular plan, it will scan through the backup files that are automatically made, looking for the hidden file containing your location. If it finds this file, it will then display the location history on the map.
free.
so is the pile of dog poop my neighbor left on my lawn.

mrbiteme
Pros
It has a simple interface and clean display. It was interesting to move the timeline back and forth and see where I had been on various dates.
Cons
None it doesn't do much but it does just what it says it does.
Summary
People are getting their knickers in an un-necessary twist over the file it displays and the fact the data is being maintained at all. The problem goes right back to out government. Which is the best government money can buy. If the government want to solve this problem they would simply state that our data is ours and in order to obtain our data we have to agree to give it to them and if they want to use or share our data they need to get our permission. In other words the government has given our data to business and now makes gestures to try and make it look like they have been looking our for our interests all along which is baloney.
Works fine with 10.6.7. No problems.

Pros
Easy to use. It lets me see where my phone has talked to cell towers. It can tell you where your phone has been, but I think there's a limit to what can be deduced from that info.
Cons
Zoom and map movement functionality is a little sensitive - redraw can be slow or patchy.
Summary
If you have the most current Mac OS, download iPhone Tracker and see for yourself. As far as I know the file lives on your machine and in the phone. If someone has easy access to either, having them find out where your phone has been might be the least of your concerns.

Pros
Promoted as important.
Cons
Oops. Doesn't work. Isn't actually important at all.
Summary
Poorly documented and a fad item. Useless. Great promise as a trivia source however; Need to get it to work correctly.
Works for me.

Pros
Works fine on my iMac with OS 10.6.7.
Cons
Basic no-frills interface.
Summary
Compatible with the latest Mac. The app is apparently intended as a rudimentary proof-of-concept tool, rather than a polished product.
