• Does its simple job well.

  Pros

  So far, it's done precisely what it's supposed to do. And it lets me monitor a number of sites at once and easily compare their response performance at different points in time. I'm happy.

  Cons

  None so far.

  Summary

  I had ongoing issues with sites on one hosting company -- including their claims of uptime I *knew* were untrue, excuse me, mistaken. I didn't want to pay for a commercial monitoring service. I needed to keep an eye on things and get a sense of the scope of the problems. It worked great. I realized my ongoing problems were, indeed, bad, but not as bad as I was imaging at my darkest moments. But it also showed me that by spending a couple bucks more a month for a competitor host I was also monitoring sites on, I could cut my average response times by about 2/3. And THAT is valuable info that I was just guessing at before.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Jun 10, 2011<p/>One thing, I didn't try getting the email notification working beyond one quick stab at using a gmail account. I note someone else mentioned an issue so you might want to subtract a half star or more (depending on your needs) from my review. ;)

  Pros

  Easy to install, clear and simple user interface, effective monitoring, small footprint.

  Cons

  Email alerts not working consistently. Didn't work with gmail SMTP (maybe because it requires SSL). I finally manage to use a different SMTP server (GoDaddy's), but even then I did not get every alert.

  Summary

  Email notifications are critical for those of us who have life... If they get this functionality to work reliably it would be perfect for simple website/server monitoring.
