The RedVox Infrasound Recorder captures sub-aural low frequency sound from volcanic eruptions, sonic booms, meteors, earthquakes, tsunamis, surf, and anything big that blows up.Be part of the world-wide infrasound exploration!Recording and streaming over wifi or cell starts as soon as you hit play.The main display shows the infrasonic pressure recorded with the internal microphone and (if available) barometer. Microphones plugged in through the data port or audio jack will override the internal microphone. For the iPhone6 and 6+, you can use the headphone mic to improve the infrasound response of their internal mic.Sound files are sent anonymously to the University of Hawaii data servers for analysis.Under Recorder Settings, look for your Device ID. You can see automatic data products atubq2s.isla.hawaii.edu.as well as use the FREE RedVox Analyzer app to view and process your device data.If outdoors or expecting loud sounds, use low gain.RedVox Recorder can record in the background to continuously monitor infrasound events and ambient noise. Although continued recording will consume more power, with the screen off it can still run off the internal battery for many hours. We can also save the location of the device so that we can correctly map the infrasound that your device is recording and to perform source localization. In the absence of cell or wifi, Recorder will save to memory and retransmit when communications are restored.You have access to all the files recorded in your device. Under Settings, Files, the Copy to Documents function will make these files available through iTunes.Continued use of GPS running in the background can decrease battery life.PRIVACYAt 80 Hz, audio is low-pass filtered in the device to remove any possibility of conversation or other identifiable human voicing being picked up. At 800 Hz sampling, you are withing the bass guitar frequency range, so can could up baritones. Location can be disabled either at the Device Settings or within the Recorder Settings. In the Recorder Setting you can specify a fixed location (see EXPERT LEVEL).The RedVox Device ID is either a truncated version of the scrambled vendor ID or user-specified in the settings. It is not traceable to any account or personal information.EXPERT LEVELArray processing requires precise timing synchronization and sensor locations. If you know the sensor location within a couple of meters and you have the RedVox Time Synch Code, you can input the fixed sensor coordinates and direct the synch process to an IP:PortNumber of your choice.
