Nice mapping software, and easy to use

Pros
Downloaded the free trial version and it provides both a Flash, and HTML5 map version. Both are very easy to use and allows user to create maps with interactive functions quickly. Suitable for you if you need to display a map with country, state or county level information.
Cons
No GPS function. No street level details.

Pros
Very easy to use and the ability to add clickable lines/points/icons to any static jpg/png is very useful. I didn't use its map templates but use it to convert my static image maps into interactive maps, the result is very impressive!
Cons
No database feature yet and in order to load data points from external data source, you would need to contact the developer for a custom job -- which of course costs extra.
Summary
A very useful software if you need to create clickable maps or images with hotspots / mouse rollover. I was using javascript and too lazy to learn flash, and this tool saves me lots of time and the output is much more impressive than a javascript based map. It comes with a gallery of map templates which can be used instantly, or you can import your own jpg/png images. The software is designed for non-programmers in mind, so if you are an experienced flash programmer you might find some functions too restrictive (e.g. only 1 image can be shown in a popup info. box)

Easy to learn. Other than the fact that it offers a GUI for the map creator, I can't think of any standout features. AmMap is a much better tool for the end user but requires backend XML knowledge.
Cons
It's almost impossible for corporate customers to download new versions. GUI has a lot of clicking and repetition involved, no macros or custom presets and FTP is a nightmare. Not recommended by CBC News for multi-user, corporate or industrial use.
Summary
iMapBuilder is better than nothing, but just barely. You can create embeddable Flash maps fairly easily with its idiosyncratic and quirky GUI. It offers a wide range of preset flash maps and the ability to use your own underlying (not mapped) image. Sounds good on paper. However, after buying a Corporate License for a Studio Pack we have found the customer support to be somewhere between ineffective and obstructive. It has required several emails back and forth each time we wanted simply to download the latest bug fix or improved version. We are giving up on iMpaBuilder and hiring a Flash developer to build us a GUI front-end for a competing product called AmMap, which currently doesn't have a front end. FTP with iMapbuilder is a nightmare unless you have a very rudimentary website that operates entirely off the root. If your website has folders and subfolders, FTP is difficult to set up and a pain in the neck to use each time you create a new map. It is suitable for a very small business operation but some whould say it's over-priced for that. -G Graves, CBC News
