Spelling checkers keep those of us who never won a spelling bee from looking like high-school dropouts. IESpell's spelling checker for Microsoft Internet Explorer provides a safety net for interactive message boards and Web-based e-mail.

We found it unobtrusive, convenient, accurate, and fast. When you want to check your spelling, activate the program from the Tools menu, the toolbar button, or the right-click menu. The intuitive interface resembles that of any other spelling checker, with options for adding words to its dictionary and for ignoring URLs and e-mail addresses. It also provides a direct link to the online Merriam-Webster dictionary, giving you the opportunity to expand your vocabulary as you work.

Though we wish IESpell could have fixed punctuation errors and checked our spelling as we typed, we were happy it detected all our misspelled words and offered spelling suggestions. This is a great free tool for the orthographically challenged.

What’s new in version 2.6.4-build-573

Version 2.6.4 build 573 fixes an issue with spell checking large documents (>30k characters) with lots of custom tags (e.g. Wikipedia pages). The text parsing code was rewritten to make it more robust and alot quicker too.

COMES WITH UNWANTED SEARCH.CONDUIT REDIRECT ON HOMEPAGE

I haven't use it as I have spent the last day trying to get rid of search.conduit which is a program that redirects you home page to its home page , then uses Bing as the browser.

Can't be deleted , from ie 10 on win7 machine

spell check works fine on desk top laptop not so good does not want to work has my laptop all locked up trying to search my laptop.

It does OK with spell check.

Has adware in it. The only way to completely uninstall the program is to do a system restore.
Summary
The program has adware in it, it Highlights on it's own words, and then when you click on it, the program brings you to a page that tries to sell you something, I did Not like that at all, and when I uninstalled the program, it still Highlighted some words on it's own, but not as much when it was installed, I had to do a complete System Restore to completely remove the program.
It has browser hijackers and viruses!

On occasion I use IE, and I'm actually a very good speller..LOL. But I type fast and don't look at what I'm typing, so this works well for me. I like Firefox's spell checker better, as it checks as you type.
Cons
I'm VERY careful not always opt out of the crap they try to get you to download with the program. HOWEVER, Funmoods toolbar managed to slip by me. It took me 3 hours of valuable work time to get rid of it! So, be aware and forewarned.

if you spell american and want your home page changed, this is for you

only spells american, of no use if you want to spell english - and there's a difference. Also wouldn't load when I opted out of all the other crap cnet tries to include in the download
