No good for TRUE IdentD needs

- I'm on a DSL Router, and with this I still could not get an Ident. Even after I disabled all Firewalls, and opened port 113, I still couldn't get ident.

- This download link now points to Ident Server v1.16 Pre-Release. The setup included in this version is capable of automatically udating previous installs since version 1.14. This version only lacks the completion of the help file that version 1.16 will include.
Bug found that affects server operation under Windows 95, 98, and ME

- We have recently discovered, that although the server runs on Windows 95, 98 and ME, the server fails to start automatically upon system boot up. We are currently in the process of correcting this problem. A simple fix for this issue can be achieved by placing a shortcut to the identd.exe file located in the directory in which you installed Ident Server 1.15. The default install directory for the version is C:\Program Files\Windows Ident Server. As soon as this problem is corrected, in version 1.15 and the unreleased version 1.16, a prerelease of version 1.16 will be released that will contain all of the new features of version 1.16 with the partially complete help file. *Note this problem was discovered by our team during the testing phase of version 1.16. It might have been noticed by multiple people, but it was never reported. As a result it has gone uncorrected for approimately 4 to 6 months. We appreciate hearing all problems found with our software as we will try to correct them as quickly as possible.

- A: As it states in the readme.txt file, it is placed in the Control Panel folder. However, for XP users it may be a bit harder to find if the Control Panel is not viewed in the Classic format. This is because, starting with Windows XP, Microsoft thought it would be a good idea to categorize the Control Panel. It now places all uncategorized Control Panel applets in the category called "Other Control Panel Options" which is accessible from the menu located to the left of all the categories. For simplification purposes, we suggest you switch to the Classic View.

- Great product, great technical support. I would go into it, but I recommend you check it out if you need to supply identd for an entire lan. It's pretty nice the way it all works. Haven't had one problem yet.
