iBookstore for Mac

iBookstore for Mac is a widget that lets you browse iBooks right from your dashboard through its straightforward and intuitive interface. Anytime you want to see the latest arrivals in the store or check to see if an item is available, you can just click over to your dashboard and take a look. And if you see something you want to purchase or download, you can go to the iTunes preview page and then to the store from the app, itself.

Once you install and open iBookstore for Mac, it will continue to run on your dashboard. You can choose to browse Free or Paid books, and select categories from the drop-down menus at the top of the window. If you're looking for a specific title or author, you can enter that information in the Search box at the top of the interface window, as well. Below these controls, the rest of the interface is dominated by the scrollable screen that displays product information. In addition to title and author, each listing also includes a brief description of the book. The only potentially desirable information that is missing is the price, which you can't see until you follow links all the way to iTunes.

If you often find yourself browsing iBooks and you'd like to be able to do so without opening iTunes every time, this could be a handy widget for you. It works well, and it's free, so it's worth trying out to see if you find it useful.
