This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This is absolutely fantastic for when you want to access those once-a-week or month apps, like (for me) Disk Utility, Activity Monitor, and so on, without digging through the Finder. Rock-solid, unobtrusive, and lets you view the names of apps along with large (or small) color icons (which I really like and find easier on my eyes). Plus you can't beat the price, it's free! I only saw a reference to it in MacFormat magazine (I think it was) as a utility they wish Apple would integrate into future versions of the OS...I agree whole-heartedly and give it five stars without hesitation. Note: this is the first version I've tried so I don't know anything about previous versions.

I think it's wonderful that there is a community of developers out there, working away to make our lives easier and I am most grateful to them!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />i used to have an alias of my hard drive in the dock to access my applications folder comfortably. unfortunately, even on a well endowed g5 the os always takes too long to build up the menues. this nifty little app "himmelbar" now gives me smart access to all apps plus the ability to quit them all at once if needed. i'm happy and wouldn't want to live without it anymore :)

Still, I can't understand why - in this politically correct universe - only Mac developers are not afraid of the socially inhospitable climate? I mean seriously... HIMmelBar? Why not HERrelBar? Or at least ITtelBar? Iam ONLY KIDDING! : )

The refresh time is a bit slow, but with the zillion Apps that show up, I guess thats to be expected. I only get "lollypopped" for a moment or two. Not enough to be irritating. Besides, What do I expect for free.

I've never taken to LaunchBar - meaning that if you like mousing and clicking your way around, you might like this as much as I do. You can pare down a too-long list of applications by excluding individual ones in the Prefs. Plays well with FruitMenu so far.
