Hexplorer is an editor for viewing/editing files in hexadecimal format. Its unique feature is the ability to interpret and visualize binary data in various ways eg. view as BMP header or FAT32 boot sector. It comes with a built-in pixel viewer to show binaries as bitmaps. It also doubles up as a disk sector editor since it is able to access logical disks under WinNT/2K/XP.

Great way to know what's really in that file!

Pros
Let's you see every byte's Hex value, so nothing is hidden by "undisplayed characters". I use this for examining and editing setup files that often contain control characters.
Cons
Displays even carriage returns as hex codes so there are no obvious line breaks, everything runs together.
Summary
My favorite byte level tool!
