Head Shadow for iOS

Head Shadow is designed for people with hearing loss, particularly those who have single-sided hearing (aka single-sided deafness). The app uses either the iPhone microphone or a connected bluetooth microphone to capture sound, then enhances the sound with a ten-band equalizer and delivers it to a connected wired headphones or bluetooth headset.

For people with the single-sided hearing loss, the Apple AirPods with two configurable microphones present an outstanding hearing solution. They can simply place one of the two AirPods, with activated microphone, in the deaf ear and the other AirPod in the hearing ear. By playing this app, they can capture, enhance and transmit the sound collected on the side of the non-hearing ear, to the hearing ear.

People with general hearing loss can enhance their hearing experience by using this app. They can use AirPods or built-in iPhone microphone for capturing sound, and a set of wired headphones, AirPods or other bluetooth headsets, for delivering the sound.

The app provides four user-configurable play profiles, factory-designed for four typical hearing conditions, and allows the user to quickly select the best profile while listening to a sound source. The user can further refine the output of the selected profile by the appss ten-band equalizer, while listening to the sound. The refined profile is then saved on the iPhone storage space and is restored on the next run of the app.

The app is designed for best user experience with emphasis on ease of use and accessibility options such as larger text size, hight contrast ratio text, and voice over support for people with accessibility challenges.

Head Shadow works in the background with controls on the lock screen. The app is optimized for the iPhone battery use.
