  Pros

  It's fast, simple, and if you can browse files in Windows you can use this program. It makes sending files from a SharePoint to someone in Outlook dead simple. Also when you receive a file in Outlook it's easy to add it to your SharePoint site.

  Cons

  I really don't have any cons. Before I installed Harmony I didn't even know I needed something like it. Now that I have installed it I've got most everyone in my office hooked on it.

  Summary

  Basically Harmony gives you instant access to your SharePoints sites within Outlook. It adds a pane in the left side of the outlook window that looks and acts like an Explorer window in Details view. This is a fantastic application that give you fast access to SharePoint sites without the need to open up Internet Explorer. I prefer to use Chrome at work so not having to open IE is a huge plus for me. Also most of the time I need to get into one of the many SharePoint sites I manage it's because of an email I need to respond to. Having access to my SharePoint sites in Outlook makes me more efficient and it just saves time. I always have Outlook open on a secondary monitor, and with Harmony I always have SharePoint open too. If you use Outlook and have even one SharePoint site you need to try Harmony. After an hour of using it I couldn't live without it. Plus, if you aren't always accessing SharePoint sites you can hide the Harmony window so it won't get in your way.

  Pros

  Harmony also offers regular document library actions, like create a new file/folder or the possibility to upload a file (and check in if required). This way you dont have to leave Outlook when you want to add a file, just do it viat he Harmony pane.

  Cons

  if you have a slow connection, it could take some seconds to load the library..and it is another pane in your outlook (next to my Xobni and others)

  Summary

  One of the key components of online collaboration is the ability to put email attachments to a shared drive with versioning enabled. In Microsofts view, you put this file into a SharePoint document library and just send the link to this file to the people you want to reach. This has 3 major advantages: Your inbox will not be growing with the heavy attachments The network traffic is lower because you dont need to send these attachments to all people you dont get 5 edited versions back, you just have versions on 1 document We all knew that right ? Microsoft hasn?t really made a great contribution to this feature in Outlook or SharePoint: after putting the file online on SharePoint, you still have to right-click and copy the link, to paste it in your email. (unless you have really cool tools like Colligo) Mainsoft has released their free soft called ?Harmony?. Practically speaking: it adds a pane in your Outlook from which you can drag and drop files that are stored in your SharePoint. The extra Harmony pane allows you to give credentials (windows authenticated or other) to access a certain SharePoint document library. When you want to add an attachment, simply take the file from the pane and drag/drop it in your email. The result is a link to the direct file. Harmony also offers regular document library actions, like create a new file/folder or the possibility to upload a file (and check it in if required). This way you dont have to leave Outlook when you want to add a file, just do it via Outlook?s Harmony pane. So this is a great addition to the SharePoint ecosphere, I cant believe this didn?t exist before.. Oh, did I mention it is free too ?
