groopic for iOS

groopic is an incredibly clever app that lets you include everyone in your group photos -- even the photographer. With basic directions and an easy-to-navigate interface, groopic is a fun way to make sure that everyone gets into the picture.

Pros

Easy to use: groopic opens with a tutorial that walks you through its process, and the wizard-style interface guides you through each step as you use the app. We successfully took our first group photo with groopic in about a minute.

Fantastic results: groopic works by assisting you in taking two photos, each with a different photographer, and then melding the photos together, so that they look like one shot that includes everyone. We were a little dubious about how this would turn out, expecting things to look a little off kilter, but our group photo looked great when we were done. groopic's secret is that it creates an overlay of the first image that you use to line up your second shot; this ensures that everything ends up where it's supposed to in the final image. The app also includes eight filters you can add to images to get exactly the effect you want.

Cons

Limited sharing: groopic creates collages that include the two source images, as well as the finished, combined image, and a groopic watermark. In the free version of the app, this is the only image you're able to save or share. If you want access to the finished group photo by itself, you'll have to pay for an upgrade.

Bottom Line

groopic is an ingenious app that solves the problem of making sure that everyone is included in group photos. Not only does it work well, it's a lot of fun to use. Although the free version of the app limits your ability to share the finished product, we think it's more than worth the $0.99 upgrade to unlock groopic's full potential.
