Gravity - Contextual Japanese for Android

Gravity - Contextual Japanese is an educational Android application designed to enhance Japanese language learning through real-world media. It employs a unique approach by utilizing native content such as podcasts, YouTube videos, and songs, which allows learners to engage with authentic language usage. The app features word-synced transcripts that provide real-time audio tracking, making it easier for users to connect spoken and written forms of the language. Additionally, it includes functionalities like one-tap flashcard creation, optical character recognition (OCR) for text in images, and a spaced repetition system (SRS) to bolster vocabulary retention. The program caters to a diverse audience ranging from beginners to advanced learners, including anime enthusiasts and travelers seeking practical language skills.

The primary function of Gravity is to facilitate contextual immersion, enabling learners to study vocabulary within the context of natural speech rather than traditional textbook methods. It organizes content according to the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) levels, ensuring that users can progress at their own pace. The app's integrated tools, such as the OCR scanner, allow for on-the-go learning by extracting Japanese text from real-world environments. Through its innovative features, Gravity aims to create a personalized learning experience that aligns with users' interests and real-life interactions.
