GBL Design Studio 2.0 provides facilities for implementing virtual and real-time event-driven architectural designs. It can be used for building system-level behavioral or cycle accurate event-driven simulators and verification suites, like SystemC, or to graphically develop algorithms, like in LabVIEW, or in building other event-driven systems, like GUI, RTOS, databases, FSMs. Even general large-scale software designs can be significantly simplified, decoupled, and parallelized, by using powerful top-down event-driven design with GBL fibers and threads.

I switched to GBL from SystemC and couldn't be happier. It's a modern library with very nice designer, very easy to work with. Integration with Visual C++ is nice time saving feature, you don't need to create projects manually, or write makefiles. Select VC 2010 targets and it will allow you to use very handy lambda functions. I can't think of ever going back to archaic SystemC.

Pros
It's very easy to use, easy to create simulation modules and testbenches without even reading help. Excellent C++ library design, the source code is included and very readable.

Love the designer. Very intuitive and easy to use. Entered systemc examples with some modifications and everything ran correctly the first time. So much easier and faster than typing code, no typos, no need to remember names and strange rules like in systemc, and the picture is worth thousand words indeed. The C++ library is well designed, uses a lot of STL, so it's smaller in size and easier to understand than systemc. Integrated tracer is a nice addition.
