GaragePay for Mac

GaragePay for Mac serves as an alternative manager for your PayPal account. The app comes at a price, but it does have a demo mode, where most of the transaction information is hidden. In terms of functionality, the software supports exporting your transaction history to a CSV file as well as using smart folders to show only what you are looking for.

GaragePay for Mac greets you with a pleasant interface that follows OS X's design aesthetic. You can quickly update the transaction log, send and refund money, add e-mails to your AddressBook, as well as export information to a CSV file. Two nice touches are the fullscreen mode and the smart folders, which allow you to instantly filter and easily find the payments you need. In order to use the service, however, you need PayPal API credentials, which usually require a Premier or Business account. During testing we found the log-in process rather unintuitive; we had to create a blank account and then fill in the credentials rather than the other way around.

If you're a small business owner and take a lot of payments through PayPal, GaragePay for Mac may offer you a better way to review your transactions thanks to the smart folder feature, which you can use to display filtered content. The biggest obstacle to using the app is the need for a PayPal Premier or Business account. This limits its usage to business owners or merchants.
