It's hard to criticize a game that's completely free, but G-Sector has a few qualities that may not make it worth your download. The premise is cool, as are the graphics, and using the keyboard/mouse combo to execute basic movements on your hoverboard is surprisingly simple. What isn't simple, however, is meeting the game's objective of shooting other hoverboard-bound enemies. The controls that aim your gun are difficult to use with any kind of accuracy. Enemies occasionally disappear from the arena altogether, which is a definite glitch. Furthermore, the game is prone to crashing. To their credit, the developers note that this game isn't final and that there are many known bugs. At nearly 17MB, it's only for people with broadband connections who don't mind whittling away some time to appreciate an imperfect game with an innovative premise.

Pros
This game was released in 2000 and still runs on modern machines without any porting. Game action is fast and furious, but that's what we were trying to do. It was a technology proof for another game we were working on "Future vs Fantasy". 3D games were very new technology at the time. The only hardware it ran on back then was the then brand new "3dfx Interactive" Card, which was very costly and rare back then. This game was never really intended to be released to the game retail market, so just enjoy it! BTW, CNET reviewer: try using a trackball instead of a mouse for a controller, bro. The game rocks with that as your interface. That's how it was designed.

More bugs than a baithouse. There, I went and said it. But don't forget that this was far from being a release version!
Summary
Use a track ball, have a blast in me, Fritz (3D animator) and Tycho (2D and texture artist, level design). BTW Freform Interactive chose a much more mature 3D engine for the retail version of the FvF game, so this was really just an amusing game to test the core 3D engine's capabilities. Enjoy!!!!!!

This is definitely the best free-ware game I have ever played. If it had a few more features and if a little bit more work was put into this game, it could sell in stores for 30 to 40 dollars.

G-Sector is a bold step in freeware: a full 3D game using the Genesis 3D engine. It supports Glide and Direct3D for 3D acceleration. G-Sector was developed in-house by Freeform Interactive LLC, best-known for the FvF franchise.

G-Sector is a 3D action game based around hoverboard combat--a hybrid of an extreme game and a third-person shooter. Players control the heroine, Cyra, as she hoverboards through futuristic cities and arenas. Gameplay is based on ramps and tricks you use to build velocity and avoid opponents' shots. Using a chase-cam and a customizable mouse/keyboard interface, G-Sector should be familiar to players of 3D shooters.
