Mount and access encrypted volumes on your Windows system via a Windows Explorer-style user interface.
FreeOTFE Explorer allows encrypted volumes to be mounted on MS Windows PCs, and their contents accessed (both reading and writing) via a Windows Explorer-style user interface. Unlike all other disk encryption systems, FreeOTFE Explorer does not need any device drivers to be installed on the computer it is run on, making it perfect for use with USB drives (and other removable media), where volumes need to be accessed on PCs where FreeOTFE hasn't been installed, and administrator rights are not available to the user in order to start FreeOTFE in "portable mode". For example, in Internet Cafe, where PCs are available for use, but only as a "standard" user.
I found the App difficult to use and at one point I got a error and the program closed.
In the end I found another program named WinGuard Pro which was free and really straight-forward to use.
Cons
I found the App difficult to use.
Try winguardpro.com for a better program, its free and easy to use.
Summary
Best look around, there are free programs like WinGuard Pro that will do the job of encryption.

Protects your data from prying eyes
steve0701
Pros
Securely encrypts data on thumb drives, HDDs, etc., 4GB at a time. Can execute from your thumb drive without the need to install software when you plug into a different computer. Friendly interface looks like Windows Explorer. Simple installation when accepting default settings. An unencrypted area can be left on your drive for quick sharing of files.
Cons
Each encrypted area has a 4GB size limit, but you may create as many of these areas as you wish on each device. Windows does not launch encrypted data with a the usual double-click. Instead, you will be prompted to save the selected file.
Summary
Your data is your private personal property, and it should be protected from curious outsiders. So should data that has been entrusted to you by friends, clients, and professional associates. FreeOTFE Explorer works. Use it!
Difficulty handling large thumbdrives
PaulBodine
Pros
It works on thumbdrives
Cons
Difficulty with large folder sizes
Summary
Here is a use that would seem common:
I want to take my 40G of files with me as a reference on consulting gigs. Since the files contain valuable IP, I want to protect the files should the thumbdrive be lost or stolen.
Bought a Lexar 64G thumbdrive (USB3.0), changed the filsystem to NTFS (so it would handle a folder larger than 4G), downloaded FreeOTFE Explorer 3.51 onto my 64-bit Windows 7 PC (USB2.0), created a 50G file on the thumbdrive, and attempted to copy the 40G folder with the files onto the drive.
It ran and ran. Two days later I stopped the transfer. Less than half had been copied. I felt if it took this long to copy things on and off the drive, it just wasn't going to work. (In addition, I plugged the thumbdrive into another PC and it required me to load FreeOTFE Explorer onto that PC before it would open the folder. I don't think I will be able to load FreeOTFE Explorer onto the PC at work, since I don't have administrator rights.)
When I deleted the folder from the thumbdrive, it took another two days to complete this task.
Obviously I'm going down the wrong path. Ideas?
Program with limited characteristics.

Pros
Useful for USB devices. For crypting disk it is slow.
Cons
There are others better programs out there.
Summary
Look at Pinoptic secure storage for exemple with many other functionality.
