• Downloads Now Restricted To 3 Minute Maximum

  Pros

  Downloads up to three minutes long are free. Freemake has an alternative for downloading longer videos. Paste URL using Free Video Converter. You may need to install Free Video Converter "Gold Pack". I searched YouTube and found a site promoting a "Gold Pack" free download (with full support from Freemake). Viz the result:- "Here is your key to activate Gold Pack for Freemake Video Converter. Please note that the key is for personal use. You can't sell it, share it or publish online."

  Cons

  3 minute maximum for video downloads. Upgrading is not free. Better free video down loaders are available (hence my one star rating).

• Free version can't compare to much better free programs

  Nothing special that other free programs don't have.

  Cons

  No easier to use than any other program. Video options only go to 2K. No 4K or higher support. No ability to change download format to MKV like other programs. YouTube now has their high res videos in MKV format. Auto update needs to be left on. Having to enter a YouTube account or password is ridiculous as it's never needed for any vid with other free programs. Also, other free programs don't brand the video at all. No faster than other programs either. Program does not have the ability to download the first 25 vids of a playlist automatically if at all. Program does not offer the ability to download audio. For that you need their audio downloader. Should be incorporated like other programs.

  Summary

  From what I see, even if you paid for the "full featured" version it can't even come close to the excellent "free" versions of other programs out there. Making a donation to get a sub par program makes no sense at all.

  Quicker downloads than other download programs. Easy program to use.

  Cons

  Had some problems with the program because it did not automatically update. Caused the program to want a YouTube password and it still would not work. I found the solution on the support page . It took some trial and error to fix it but once I manually updated the program and added YouTube as an account it worked fine.

  Summary

  Nice program and worth the money. I used YTD download program but it had a lot of malware in it and it was slow downloading even though it was free.

  Freemake Video Downloader is a product that is very easy to use and still remains effective. The user interface is minimal and facilitates the use of the software. The options are small in number, not to say non-existent. They are not necessary for the application to realize why it was developed. Freemake Video Downloader lets choose the resolution of videos up to HD and 4K from many hosting sites. It allows the extraction of sounds with its integrated converter which is quite fast. This free product is artificial because the software contains limitations such as download speed or branding. To eliminate them you must buy packs whose price is still reasonable. Product installation is quick and easy after downloading the installer. User should just control the installation of additional products with the Freemake product. As for the support it is quite responsive and responds quickly and well to the resolution of the problem encountered. Freemake Video Downloader remains my favorite tool and utility for downloading videos and music. Wonderful product!

• Excellent Video Downloader

  Does Exactly what it is supposed to do. 1. You enter the URL of the video. 2. The software gives you choices of the different quality downloads of The Video that you choose. 3. You pic the one you want and the software downloads it to the directory that you chose. Simple and Perfect. Also, the technical staff is EXCELLENT! I had a small problem when I tried to delete and re-install the software (missing key because I had donated to this great project), and the staff had me back up and running in no time.

  Cons

  I can't really think of any. The software just works perfectly for us.

  Summary

  Love Freemake Video Downloader. The software does what it is supposed to do and very easy to use. The technical staff are More than helpful in the event you should have a problem. Are there other ways to download videos?....Sure...But out of everything that I tried, I came back to Freemake Video Downloader for keeps. I Loved it so much, I sent in the small donation to get the bonus that they offer. Yes, it is freeware and works just fine as such but for just a small donation you help the people that spend countless hours developing the software AND get a little added bonus in the deal. It's a win/win.

  Freemake is a cool thing that helps me convert youtube playlists to iPhone by pressing only one button.

  Very easy to use (intuitive). Converts (extracts?) video to audio Don't need more than this for an average guy like me

  Not a real con, but obviously cannot download certain files gthat are protected. Otherwise no criticism

  Summary

  I discovered the Freemake software a couple of years ago and I have always found their support to be polite and helpful. Fantastic, considering that this is freeware. The Freemakers are professional service providers. Thanks guys; here's one fellow who really appreciates your effort to make the internet accesible.

  Downloaded difficult to remove adware.

  Summary

  While I was initially very satisfied with this program the new version which it prompted me to download came with a difficult to remove adware program. Very disappointed.
