  It's really great to find this software here and it works so well in recording the calls. Was in fact very helpful in recording my online classes and watching them later. Keep it UP

• Sneaky malware loaded with the program

  Pros

  When you install, you are given the option of typical or advanced settings. The advanced settings let you opt of of changing your default search provider and installing crapware, tool bars, etc.

  Cons

  HOWEVER, even if you select advanced settings when installing, it STILL loads some sneaky malware that hijacks your browsers after visiting a dozen or so websites. This is NOT cool and this company should be fined by the FTC. Had to use Rouge Killer to root out the malware (you could use others like malware bytes, etc.)

  Summary

  Program seems to work okay, but the stealth malware is a no-go for me. I've worked in the IT business for years and was very careful not to install the toolbars, crapware, etc by using the advanced install setting - but they still installed a browser hi-jack. Really?

  Great idea.

  Cons

  First, it wants to install ad-ware and browser plugins. You have to opt out. Second, it doesn't work. I tried the last 4 versions and none have worked on my Win7 machine. An older version worked on an old Vista machine. Skype crashes upon first load. Reloading Skype and trying to record a call it says no calls detected (as I'm in a call). Or, start to record...crashes Skype...reload Skype...start call and try to record..."no Skype calls detected". To get it to work at all...load Skype twice...start call and start recorder at the exact moment the other person answers their Skype.

  I've updated both the recorder and Skype but nothing makes it work. Uninstalled.

  Pros

  When it works its great! I have wonderful recordings of my kids.

  Cons

  The download from Cnet installed but Free Vid Call caused Skype to crash when I opened Skype. Then when I re-started Skype, Free Vid Call couldn't detect the call. I had to close and reopen them both before I could do a call - this happens frequently but seems worse after the PC hibernates and wakes up. So I downloaded the newer version from the author's website but couldn't get it to run. It appeared to split the necessary dll files into 2 different folders. When I copied all of them into one folder the app would finally start, but then crashed Skype again. I reverted to an earlier version. Still crashes but usable. Its never crashed in the middle of a call. IF it starts I know it will record fine. That was on my 64 bit Win 7 PC. I also have it installed on a 32 bit Vista machine and it hasn't crashed once - still working like a charm.

  Summary

  Try it! Its a great application, easy to use and free. It just didn't work on my 64 bit machine.
