• Seems to work and I've got no spam - but not from CNET!

  Pros

  Converts that asinine compressed video format from "smart" phones into AVI or MPG format and restores the geometry so you can use common video viewers to play it. It allows a simple drag and drop to load files, which I particularly appreciated. Default output is the input directory, with options to rename files or stick them somewhere else

  Cons

  Well, the fact that it worked and has a bunch of fixed and user-configurable settings didn't seem like such a chore to use.

  Summary

  I read the very first negative review and was turned off by the SPAM WARNINGS! Then I poked around for another 3gp2avi converter and found Jacek Pazera's own website, which offered 32/64-bit versions in either an installed or stand-alone configuration. I downloaded the stand-alone version - scanned the ZIP before unloading it, then scanned everything in the directory afterwards and found nothing intrusive. My browser seems to have sustained no damage and my system seems to be unaffected. I can't quite believe that CNET might have possibly installed additional spam software on their version of the download - but who knows?

  The program seems to work but I took it off as soon as I installed.

  Cons

  Good Lord! Every browser hijack, redirect, and fake warning known to man. Unless you want to waste a good part of your day trying to regain control of your computer, move on to something reputable.

• Works, but watch for the spamware

  It worked, converted the video.

  Cons

  Installed a BUNCH of spamware. Completely took over ever single browser I had, installing plugins in Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, to add a browser bar, and also set an affiliate search engine as the default search. Had to uninstall everything and manually uninstall the plugins, then restart my computer. I thought CNET was better than this. Last time I'm downloading from the site. I signed up specifically to leave this review. Don't make the same mistake I did.

  just now downloaded, installed and used it once. From what I've done so far, it's pretty good. downloaded really fast(granted it was only 6mb) and the only problem I really had was the annoying ads I get when i downloaded it(then again, I get these ads all the time so I guess it's not TOO bad). The design is nowhere near top notch but if it works as well as it is now, I can live with the windows 95 style design. It's insanely easy to use. Any idiot who can push the power button on their computer could use this program, and there's a ton of options and settings for people who at least know what they're doing. Overall, it's a simple and easy to use program that also comes with a few simple tools to edit the videos for the people that have at least some idea of what they're doing.

  Pros

  I had no audio in any videos with .3g2 extension. This conversion tool re-established audio with no video quality loss.

  Cons

  Each video lost about four frames upon conversion to .avi....Small price to pay for being able to hear my grandchildren's voices on the videos!!

  Summary

  I'm thrilled with the results, as indicated above. I would recommend this download to all having the same issues as I, namely, .3g2 files on videos made with cell telephone. Thanks again!!

  Pros

  Simple and quick, I used the default settings and it worked great! It converted a cell phone 3g2 video to an MPG.
