Used FixWindowsUpdate for Windows?
Editors’ Review
This freeware repairs a broken Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS), but doesn't explain how. FixWindowsUpdate's bare-bones, four-button interface is geared toward novices, but doesn't give advanced users enough information. Reading the short help file is a requirement with this program. The four labeled buttons give little clue as to their use. One button merely opens the service window, and the user must check if BITS is running. If it is, this application's need is over.
However, if you can't find it listed, then FixWindowsUpdate 1 offers three methods to enable BITS. One button attempts to start it. That's the easy procedure. Failing that, this utility offers two final attempts, labeled Phase One and Phase Two. However, the application doesn't explain what those functions attempt to change on your system. Plus, there is no undo or backup function. This is truly a use-at-your-own-risk program. Nevertheless, advanced users who know they have a need to repair BITS should give this freeware a chance.
