FinderPop provides you with a more versatile and controllable desktop with its integrative interface that overhauls the default Finder greatly. Your productivity and overall Mac experience should improve while using this program, but it is not a must-have application for all individuals.

Pros

Clean, customizable interface: FinderPop blends comfortably with the standard Mac Finder, so using this application is very easy as most tasks will come naturally to you. We believe those who enjoy personalized layouts will be pleased with FinderPop's various appearance controls such as the Custom Icons and font sizes.

Efficient features: You are bound to work faster with FinderPop for Mac because it provides quick document handling tools and shortcuts. The Control+Click tool is one of the best features of this program because it allows you to see inside folders and preview files without opening said folder.

Cons

Not for everyone: FinderPop will enhance every person's experience with their Mac; however, this application is geared more toward those who regularly use a mouse.

Mixed support: Aside from emailing the creators of this program, there are not many support options available. We visited the FinderPop forums to see that the majority of threads had been inactive for at least a month and also noticed that answers for past questions were never provided.

We are impressed by FinderPop for Mac because of its high-quality toolkit and overall useful functionality. No other program comes close to providing the services that FinderPop has to offer, and this program is in a league of its own. FinderPop for Mac is definitely your best choice if looking to increase your workflow speed and output.

Very easy to use and config. Keeps everything you need handy; folders, applications, files, running processes, etc. Can pass files to active process, aliased apps, or drill down to any app. Can move things with drill down through menus Very actively maintained (now that author is using OS X) for "beta" & "between" official release versions, which are still quite stable...but in the forums only. Great for those who miss the Apple Menu functionality of Mac OS 9. ALL THIS FOR FREE!!! WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE??!!!!! Kudos to this developer for keeping this tool alive!!!
Cons
Small cosmetic quirks...Italics of alias, colour of aliases, some spacing of named entries. Some dead spots when trying to click on empty menu bar.
Summary
I've been a long time user from the days of Mac OS 9 . Missed it for a long time when it was absent from OS X. SSSOOOO Glad it is back! Would be nice if it also included some Expose features, starting with just listing the open windows for a running process and showing active windows. Then would not need the Dock for much.
Does what it says. A very handy app.

FinderPop is a gem! It does all it is advertised to do. It is very easy to learn and it makes no mistakes. It gets along with everything. It is stable and reacts to nothing. It just works peacefully.
Cons
I have no problems. This little program does all I request with no problems.

I did use it in 10.4.11 and now on 10.6. It works perfectly. It does not lag. I have a MacBook Pro 2.53 Ghz and 4 GB. This program is a must have for every Mac user. I think that it may be operator error for the problems people are expressing. I know that it is more than just simple and I have had to think about what the selections were in the setup, but not too difficult. It use to have the pulldown menu on the right as well as anywhere there was empty space in the menu bar. Now I notice it is just anywhere there is space in menu bar. Maybe I did not select properly or I have not added the applications selection. I will probably figure it out given some time. But, I don't even need that option to really appreciate the program and how useful it is. Great job and is fast.

But, beside this, i ever loved this app so much! The author then is sooo nice, funny, smart, friendly.. A couple of beers with him must be a joy!

This little app indeed belongs in the list of very useful, must-have utilities that makes the already user-friendly Macintosh even more of a joy to use. PopFinder stays completely out-of-the-way -- and even out-of-sight -- until you actually need to use it, and then it allows you to quickly launch items, glide through levels of folders, etc. all from the Menubar. Initially -- before actually installing it -- I wondered why a Snow Leopard user, such as myself, would even need this little app, considering how easily one can now launch apps, open documents, run scripts, etc., from the much improved Dock with its various view options. However, as soon as I installed FinderPop, my eyes were opened, and it's definitely a keeper for this user! Thanks to the developer for making this little gem freely available to the Mac community. It is much appreciated.

If you screen is full and you want to go into a program that is two, three or more files embedded this is the program. It is the old OS 9 pull down menu. Its is better than what Apple did in that old OS because you click anywhere the menu bar is blank and the customized menus show up. Apple should pay the developer for this one and acquire it, because when my screen is full and the file or program I want is under the open files and programs, I don't have to close stuff on the screen. Always is an issue at some point. No wonder this is a "real" 5 star. Tip: Having been a veteran mac user, with the Old OS 9, I would make an alias of the finderMenu, In this case, FinderPop Items alias, and put that alias in itself. What this does is allow you to open the pull down FinderPop menu and put your aliases in the file, by selecting the FinderPop Items alias without searching for the FinderPop Items file in the "Library" folder. Once the FinderPop Items file is open you can then move around the aliases as well as reorder them for your own customization, or remove them, or add to them, etc. My brother originally shared this with me for the old OS. Every mac should use this program. A must have. I use a MacBook Pro Intel core 2 Duo running 10.4.11 (I always like to tell this in the review, just so people can know there is no issue or potential issue with my kind of hardware) Again, I use on average more than ten times a day. Thanks, Thanks Thanks developer. Yeah, it's free, not some trial passed off as freeware. Trial software should be categorized as shareware because you have to end up paying to continue on the honor system with shareware, yet with trial ware you are forced to pay, unlike shareware. It is more restrictive than shareware so how can those other guys call it freeware? That's my soap box. What I sometimes do if I find out it is trialware (shareware which forces you to purchase or it is disabled) passed off as freeware is I give it one star. This is real freeware.
