Mirrors your stuff silently... keeps copies of revisions for you.
Cons
Latest version is crippled nagware that is 1/5th of the version they released 2 years ago. Find a copy of the old version it does more and does not fill your computer with advertising and nags.
Summary
A very good program has turned into garbage by a company that is trying to squeeze it's customers hard for more money. they think it is ok to put advertising popups on your screen all the time. Find a old version and disable it from updating in settings to get the real program that works well. It lost 4 stars of rating from the pop up advertising that is a part of filehamster. I will not tolerate using my computer to advertise to me.

Pros
No more accidental deleting or overwriting of files. Also protects against "corrupted" files from buggy software. Very easy to use. Works well with MS Word Autobackup. I've seen no bugs.

Getting started is a little confusing. but it's really very simple.

Have you ever saved a version of a file and only realised several days later you deleted someting you wanted? Filehamster stores copies of your files every time you save -- it automagically deals with this so you don't have to worry. Developers have long used such essential tools, but normal users can greatly benefit too. This is a critical utility you will wonder how you did without! <p> <p>The preferences are elegantly conceived -- you set up watched directories and the options used cascade to all of its contents (that you can override per item). FileHamster allows you to add comments to any revision when you save so you can keep track of what you were doing. You can do a diff on any revision in your library (and ZIP revisions to save space). <p> <p>Critically, it stores the revisions as original format files, so your data is never locked into some proprietry format. You can easily ZIP it all up for backup elsewhere. <p> <p>The support forum and developers are very friendly and helpful. Bugs I found were fixed extremely quickly, and they are very receptive t suggestions for future versions.

I'd love to have SFTP support for remote revision libraries.
