F-Secure Freedome VPN is a powerful app that helps you maintain your privacy and security while surfing the Web.

Pros

Easy to use: A tutorial walks you through the app's features, and the intuitive interface makes it easy to configure the app to meet your needs. We especially liked that each feature has an easily-accessed "How does this work?" explanation that describes each function with minimal jargon.

Feature filled: F-Secure Freedome protects you in a number of ways: it allows you to select from 13 different virtual locations and turn on connection, browsing, and/or tracking protection individually. The app also shows you how many MB of traffic it's protecting, how many harmful sites it's blocked, and how many tracking attempts it's prevented. After we spent just a few minutes browsing some popular social networking sites, the app had already blocked 11 tracking attempts, highlighting just how much demand there is for our personal information.

Battery smart: The app goes to sleep when you're not actually using the Internet, minimizing the drain on your battery.

Cons

Free trial only: It's not immediately clear when you download F-Secure Freedome VPN that all you're getting is a week-long free trial. After that you'll have to pay for either a monthly or annual subscription. That said, the prices are reasonable, and many users will likely find the protection that the app provides worth the investment.

What’s new in version 3.6.1

A new setting for switching between IKEv1 and IKEv2 protocols was added. Some networks are apparently having problems with IKEv2, causing issues to a few customers. IKEv2 is superior to IKEv1, so it is still used by default.
