I like it but...

- Summary
- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I like this (even paid for the Pro version) but would love to see a library column on the left similar to iApps. This way, instead of having to open individual documents in separate windows you could use a single window to display and switch between different books. Overall 1000% better than using Acrobat to purchase and read. The activation of purchased material is simpler and better than Adobe too.
The ONLY GOOD eBook Reader under OS X!!!!

Couple o' problems remain

- Summary
- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
v1.2 is pretty good, but still has a couple of problems: One is that the table of contents is displayed as a fixed-size drop-down sheet that just truncates long section titles, and also doesn't let you resize it vertically to show more lines, so you wind up with a truncated view in two directions. Lacking a way to show the table of contents so you can actually see it all makes Palm Reader feel clumsy... The second problem is that it belligerently creates a folder inside the top level of my Documents folder, where I have to stare at it every day. Please don't touch that area: if you want to make a folder for your app's data then do it in ~/Library/Application Support/ like everybody else and leave the user's space alone. Or at least ask me where I want it. I'm wary enough about having to enter my credit card number into this app to activate books I've purchased online, and really don't want to see the programmers leaving poorly-implemented details like this dangling around... Makes me twitchy... The actual display is nice, and I like the themes, but those two shortcomings are enough to drop it down two stars in my opinion. I'll look forward to further polishing.
