This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Epson scanner software for my new scanner, bought based on good experience with one of their photo printers, caused serious hangs, freezes, refusal to shut down, etc, for me. My advice -- either only install TWAIN driver and get third party scanner software BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING or else shop for a different brand of scanner in first place. (latest OS on G-4, mega ram)

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Have been very happy with 3170 and Epson software until this "upgrade". When scanning slides, it will now stop scanning after the first slide and will not continue until you click in the "Progress" window. After that in will scan all the rest, but this is a major inconvenience. Also, why now hide the Image Adjustments?? They used to be out in the open without the pain of having to open a new window. Doesn't make sense to me. I can see no - absolutely no - improvements with this upgrade - only downsides. I finally uninstalled this fiasco and reinstalled my old driver which works great.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This driver is only for model 1670, 2400, 3170, 3200, 4870. I have payed a lot of money for my 2450 with firewire and Epson doesn't gives to the mac community as always their support. And I really thought they did the 2450 principally only for the mac.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Finally Epson scanners can scan multiple images without starting the driver everytime. Thanks S. Stevens for your experience, I have installed Twain 5 then this driver and it works fine. Omnipage needs Twain 5 and Photoshop can scan with this one (or Twain 5).
2450: OK with USB. Nothing with FireWire.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
With USB connection, the scanner does ok. I can use ImageCapture with or without TWAIN. I can use Epson Scan application by opening the app or by pressing the scanner button. Photoshop Elements 2 can scan.
But when the scanner is connected using the FireWire port, NOTHING. The scanner does not even show up on the FireWire bus as shown by SystemProfile.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
i can see no difference between this version and 1.25A. still no scanner button support. as is, the app seems to work fine on my 1650 running OS 10.3.1
i don't know what all the other reviews are talking about, epson has always had that auto-scan thing when first run, you just hit pause and click options, it's been that way since OS9 (though a change would be nice).
speaking of OS 9, this app is still not what it was back then.
Epson you better get on the ball, how hard can it be to port over the os 9 version to 10, but i guess a process like that tacks more then 3 years (a touch of sarcasm).
all i ask is support for my Perfection 1650's buttons, us users have been *censored*ing about that for years now. so tell you what... i'll give you 3 months, that should be enough time. if i still have a half @$$ scan driver. i won't buy epson again (not that you care) I'm fed up!
anyway, sorry for the rant :) back to the review
MY Perfection 1650 on my tibook 667 in OS 10.3.1 works fine. if your running X and have an epson you have no choice (unless you buy vuescan $60) the driver works, it just doesn't to everything it did back when i bout the scanner 3 years ago. i'm giveing it 3 stars, cuz it works but still isn't there yet.
