Users may want to change preferences in their Quicktime player without having to do it every time the program opens. Quicktime X Preferences for Mac's options window allows changes to a number of default settings, which is a welcome feature for some users.

After startup, this freeware application installs easily as an additional preference pane in the system preferences menu. There did not appear to be any technical support available, but there was a basic readme file that explained the various options present and how changing each impacted the Quicktime program. Some of the options include automatically playing movies, changing the viewing area's corners, and closed captioning displays, among others. The changed options easily update into the Quicktime player, itself, and continue to stay in place. Outside of the options, there are no additional features available.

Quicktime X Preferences for Mac functions well, and it's offered at no cost.

Allows for basic customization of new Quicktime X, such as autoplay, multiple recordings, and fullscreen enabling while in other apps.

This adds a preference panel in System Preferences for the new Quicktime X, which for some odd reason did not have a preferences option in the File menu like the previsions version of quicktime. Its fairly Spartan in its options, but a clean and simple list of options is all that are really needed anyway. A very necessary download for all users of Quicktime X IMO.

This preference pane allows you to enable or disable many features of the new QuickTime Player X that are not available to users by default. These include:

Enabling autoplay when opening a video file
Enabling subtitles and closed captioning by default
Enabling autohide or autoshow for the titlebar and controller, or setting a new timeout for the fade function to make it a longer or shorter wait before it disappears
Allowing simultaneous video recordings through the built-in iSight camera
Keeping Full Screen Mode active even when switching applications
Changing the corners of the movie player to round or square
