Summary
The user JR is plain wrong, "Empire" came out before Global Conquest. The Empire Deluxe game was the second round of the Empire series and even better than the first. It has nearly infinite replay value. I still own an original copy, in the box, of Empire Deluxe. It's a great game.

Empire was made in circa 1978 and was a precursor to Global Conquest. This version is a cool remake of the original ED of New World Computing. Now anyone can play it in any windows platform. Not very flashy game but very addictive.

Back in 1993 was a game called Global Conquest - very similar to this - though this one seems to want to become something more than that - the Atari Activision graphics and silent movie era soundtrack makes this game unbearable. Needs a great deal of work guys.

Empire Deluxe Internet Edition is abstract global warfare on a strategic scale. Often imitated, this classic war game has over three decades of history. With three different game levels to play, players can fight against up to six computer or human opponents (Hot Seat/Internet/E-mail) using Infantry, Armor, Fighters, Bombers, Transports, Subs, Destroyers, Cruisers, Battleships, and Aircraft Carriers to explore, fight, and control the cities on a map.

Version 3.5 of Empire Deluxe has been upgraded to work on the modern day Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (95, 98, ME, 2000, XP). It also has new graphics, which you can edit and change, as well as a host of other configuration enhancements.
