Key Details of Elite Utilities
Editors' Review
This suite of system tweaks, privacy cleaners, and other tools is a solid middle-of-the-road performer that is hampered by a too short demo. Elite Utilities loads 14 functions accessed from a central button and description menu. Each function loads its own interface, with similar button and description layouts.
There are no surprises with this software. No function that will either knock your socks off or get you to immediately uninstall the suite. Most functions operate steadily, if not speedily. The Disk Cleaner was the exception, and it proved to be far too slow for our testers. It deletes a short list of file extensions at a time. That forces it to go through every directory numerous times. The Tweak and Clean function brings together many Windows operating system settings, while the Startup function isn't much different than Task Manager. The Registry Cleaner doesn't display a progress meter, or allow sorting of errors by Hive or value. The other functions did their basic jobs, and nothing more.
A major drawback of this demo is the far too short evaluation period. You get a mere 30-use evaluation, and that doesn't mean of the suite. Trying each of components counts against the 30. Fourteen functions and you can see how little you'll get to test each. Novice users looking for an all-in-one program to clean and upgrade their system should give this application a test, but shouldn't expect a dazzling performance.
