- New interface for the account site
- Folder sharing feature
- Easy to create a backup job for my folders
Cons
- In-browser streaming or viewing of the shared files will be nice. Will save my in-laws the extra step to download.
Summary
i like it much better now with the new features they have implemented. I also like the new look/interface after I logged in to my account. it is much easier to navigate and control my backup jobs. I particularly like the new folder sharing feature. I just had a baby and like every new mom, I take a million photos of my baby everyday. My in-laws live in Italy and I found the best way to share the pictures and videos with them is using the folder sharing feature in ElephantDrive. Emailing doesn't work as there is a size limit per email.
Worked when I needed it to.

Pros
-Fast backup
-relatively fast restore time
Cons
-reporting tools could be better
Summary
I've been using ElephantDrive since September 2011. When I got a new computer I was able to download all of my old files onto the new computer with relative ease. I'm glad I had the service because otherwise it would have been a pain to transfer all that data.
straight forward backup with nice sharing features
jattoffresno2
Pros
file and folder sharing
back up folders using right click menu
no need to move files/folders in order to back them up
price is ok too
Cons
more granular sharing control for sharing folders
Summary
I started to use ElephantDrive because it was integrated with my QNAP NAS. But I also found out that they had an App for MAC and PC as well. I mostly used the PC app and loved the right click menu option to backup any folders from their existing location. I also like the folder sharing feature, but wish that it had more granular read/write permission controls.
Overall, I got more out of the service than what I had originally bought it for (just for my QNAP NAS).
Terrible Customer Service
dlreas
Pros
Nothing good to say
Cons
Received an email saying they were discontinuing my plan and that I would have to choose another plan or they would shut down my account. The other plans did not meet my needs, so I went to a different service. When I received my credit card statement, they had charged me for an entire year. My service is cancelled, but they will not respond to emails or voice messages asking for my refund. No one will answer their phone, only voice mail. Do yourself a favor, find someone with a company that picks up there phone. By the way, much happier with my new service.
Summary
Run, do not walk away from this company.
Terrible Customer Service and Unreliable Backups
Travel2there
Pros
This was a good service a few years ago. (Faster backups and unlimited space options).
Cons
Terrible customer service that doesn't respond to emails and canceled my prepaid account without returning my data or money. Also, backup speeds have slowed down significantly over time, yet their pricing plans have increased.
Summary
I had a pre-paid, unlimited account with ElephantDrive for several years that I renewed annually. In 2011 the company sent me a note stating that I was using too much space and that they were cutting off my access to the service. Many emails from me to various elephantdrive employees went unanswered. I lost all of my backup data, including some data that I had no other copy of. In addition, I'm out the balance of my prepaid subscription. The only thing worse than having no backup of your data is to pay a company to keep your backup data and have them not do so. I would not recommend that you trust this company with your data or your money.
Nice integration of backup and sharing
TorturedLuddite
Pros
I found elephantdrive to be the best product I've used for backup because it combined the regular functions I was getting out of my old service but added in the share tool. Nice to have only one account for both needs.
Cons
Some of the cooler features (the icon marks, especially) aren't on by default. You've got to enable them using the Advanced menu - just turn 'em on guys, users will thank you. Also the mapped drive was still a little clunky.
Summary
While it wasn't as cheap as my old backup, the thing actually does a lot more. I think the old adage is right and in this case you get what you pay for. The backups run consistently and fast, the sharing is built right in (which, for me, was a pretty big plus). and the access is pretty easy.
DELETES FILES IN MAPPED DRIVE - BE CAREFUL
123smith123
Pros
cheap for the features
Cons
Files copied to the Mapped Drive (truck Drive) will go missing. Even after you verify that the files were copied and exist on the Mapped(trunk drive), when you go back the later on, you find they are not there. ELEPHANT DRIVE - NOT WORTH THE RISK
Summary
Elephantdrive (Elephant Drive) is not worth the money or any amount of money if they files copied are not stable. Some files show up and others don't, even though there are not errors. BE VERY CAREFUL YOU DO NOT PUT YOUR IMPORTANT FILES IN THE MAPPED DRIVE
Easy to set up and I use it a lot
DigitalJammer
Pros
It works more consistently than my last backup service and I've found the web site very handy.
Cons
It doesn't look super cool like a lot of my other programs.
Summary
I've recommended ElephantDrive to literally dozens of people. It isn't slick, but it works. If you need something like this for backup, get it.
Not fast but does the job
Roger1322
Pros
You never know until you need to do a restore but everything seems to be backed up.
Cons
very slow.
Summary
Fastest online storage service I've tried...
paranoid.one
Pros
I've tried a whole bunch of the online backup services and they are all pretty challenging to sue if you have a lot of data because it can take a long time to back up. ElephantDrive was the fastest service I've used yet. I'm not sure why these guys don't talk about this more, because it matters a lot.<p>I also like that you can use the service as a large file transfer tool. Helps for sending video when email can't handle the attachment size.
Cons
I would like to see more detail in the backup reporting.
