ADrive LLC (ADrive.com) leads the free online data storage community, offering the largest amount of free storage on the internet. ADrive provides users with secure solutions for storing, backing up, and accessing files from virtually anywhere, at any time. ADrive serves as an online, centralized vault for all file types including: music, videos, photos, documents, and more. Founded by veterans of the storage and networking industry, ADrive was designed to meet the demands of our data-intensive world.
The site says it's free and that you get 50 GB of storage. Actually, the free service doesn't work. I'ts just bait and switch.
Summary
BAIT AND SWITCH.
Tech support abysmal to non-existent.

Pros
Hey, 50 gigs is great!
Cons
For some reason, Comcast blocks all email from ADrive, including registration confirmations, tech support, etc.
Summary
ADrive has the worst tech support I've ever encountered. When I ran into registration problems, they were slow to respond (days), didn't bother to try to fully understand the problem after repeated explanations, and generally uncooperative. 50 gigs is great, but with boneheads behind the wheel, I'm not so sure about how much to trust ADrive.
ADrive zipped my files!

Pros
50 GB of free storage seems like a dream come true. After download, I tested it with 2 files. Transfers were fast, and I was able to do some organising on ADrive's interface.
Cons
My 2 test files were Word 2007 docs which appeared in the list on ADrive as doc.x, but when I went to open them, I found they were zipped, I had to extract them (with Filzip, my default) to view them.
Summary
Not much use to me if I can't view my stuff quickly and easily, without having to unzip it first. I don't see anything on ADrive's site saying it zips stuff, and they haven't replied to my email query. Has anyone else had this problem?

Updated on Mar 27, 2011
50 GB was too much to resist, so I've given ADrive another try. Had to register with another email address as I'd cancelled my previous registration & it wouldn't let me use the same i.d. again. Login process is a bit tedious. If you've not signed out of a previous session, you have to sign in twice. Then a 2nd page opens where you have to type in a verification number. If you want to download any of your files from ADrive to your computer, yes they are zipped. If you want to view a file on ADrive you click on the magnifying glass icon by the file, then click on Dowload and that will open the file as normal. In summary, ADrive is not that smooth for getting into, but for the amount of free storage it's worth it. Increase my stars to 3 perhaps 4. Finally, you won't find ADrive using the Download.com search box because there is no software, it's all on a website.

Updated on Apr 26, 2011
I've now abandoned ADrive. The whole process of logging in to ADrive and waiting for directories to open, and then files, was tediously slow, and you can only open one file at a time. Every time my netbook's internet connection dropped out, I had to start all over again - when this happens ADrive makes you enter your email address and password twice.
A thumb drive in my pocket is much more convenient, for a start it doesn't need an internet connection, and I no longer have to worry about the possibility of ADrive disappearing or starting to charge in the future.

Pros
Easy to use, for sending large images or files to client. Upload and share link and done!
Cons
Nothing so far
Summary
Good product, hopefully good customer service as well.
Lousy customer service
jonesc013
Pros
Nothing, did not fit my needs.
Cons
Could never get it to work properly. Gave up, customer service is nonexistent.
Summary
Paid for one year of service and never was able to use product. Got stuck paying for a second year of service due to their automatic renewal with no possibility of refund or even a response from customer service. Posting to let others know of automatic renewal as they do not send any reminder emails that subscription is due again. Very frustrated with customer service.
This is great I mean really 50GB wow
vgames
Pros
50GB well you can put anything up on there I mean really and no one should be complaining to much since this is a lottt of FREE space to keep stuff.
Cons
there client should be for free members.
or at least FTP/something.
Summary
Great service even tho I still prefer skydrive it may have 50MB limits but it has its own ups.
and also in the reviews I really don't like hearing "this sux cause its slow upload"
cause if you have 56k to 1MBs internet well your upload isn't EVER going to be fast.
ONLY if you get 5MB to 1GB internet will you be able to upload at 1MB or higher.
Everything I wanted for online storage
scottk107
Pros
Great interface, ftp access, and good security. I loved the free version, but I did spring for the pay version since I just felt I got a little better features.
Which ever version you choose, I don't think you can go wrong with adrive...
Cons
Would like to use this as a file sharing tool, but cannot do that without giving my sign in info to others. Other sites have this, and it would be nice if adrive would incorporate this.
Summary
great for what it is. If you're looking for simple online storage, this fits the bill. Great for cloud storage of backups and important files. I would suggest encryption prior to storage, but that might just paranoia.
Doesn't always work
ughm
Pros
Works most of the time. You can get hooked on 50MB easily. When you find yourself really needing something - it goes down or doesn't work.
Cons
Doesn't always work. Sometimes service is out.Sometimes you can't upload files to send. Sometimes you can't log in. Sometimes you just can't do anything - and that always happens when you need it.
Summary
If you don't absolutely have to rely on it - it's not a bad 'toy'. If you need it for business. If you need it 100%. Be careful. It's not reliable.
Yes, it is slow but worth it still.
joarc
Pros
Lots of room, handy features, upgradeable.
Cons
It is slow. I have standard dsl (not the fastest but certainly not slow) and adrive uploads about 5mb per minute. Seems slow to me.
Summary
Worth the time, even though the up is slow. 50gb FREE need I say more.
This is a nice software! A lot of us using it here!
jadz_l
Pros
It has the largest of all the "hard disk webware" and it's easy to use.
Cons
The only improvement we wish with it I guess is that it would upload and download faster.
Summary
Great work ADrive team, please build our trust through keeping our files in safety no matter what. Thanks.
