Periodic table of elements with powerful mass calculator.
Elements is a cool and searchable periodic table of elements with lots of usefull informations. Passing over an element on the table give you instant access to general informations. Clicking an element give you full information, like: Crystal structure, Physical properties, Electron configuration with graphical diagram, and known Isotopes. Elements also contain a fast, accurate and easy to use molecular weight calculator wich accept classical chemical formula syntax with math symbols; and a "two-way" converter for: Volume, Mass, Concentration and Quantity. Features: - periodic table of elements - molecular weight calculator - "two-way" converter
I have a Ph.D. in Hydraulics (Fluid Dynamics). Undergrad degrees in Theoretical Physics and Chemical Engineering. I find Elements very easy to use as a quick reference far superior to Periodic Table. However, I am quite certain that Periodic Table has users who may disagree with me. As a daily user I still maintain that Elements is superior, for my purposes.

Awesome product.

Pros
Graphical interface very friendly. Stacks of information on each element. personally love the electron shell configuration of each element.
Cons
When shifting between screen resolutions, some "inspectors" can be difficult to resize or re-orientate.

As a science teacher, this is well worth the $10. I have used it for the past 6 years.

Possible additions for the future would be the addition of radio active isotopic information, the sources of the elements e.g Aluminium - primary source Bauxite, and abundance information.
One of the best chemical reference tools I've seen

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This is quite possible the most useful little program I've encountered in a long time. I just installed the this and the Dashboard widget on a G5 used in a very large General Chemistry lecture hall. At the touch of F12, a fully colored, info packed periodic table pops up. Totally cool. Having it linked to the widget adds even more info at the click of a mouse. Since I refer to a periodic table constantly in my lectures, this is slick way to pull the info I need up in class in a format that is pleasing and easy to read.
With each release, the developers are packing more and more information
into the program. With this in mind, I would like to make a few suggestions
for future releases.
â?¢ The thermodynamic or crystalline phase of the material needs to be included when indicating the various physical properties. For example,
is the melting point of C for graphite or diamond? Is the C electrical conductivity for graphite or diamond?
â?¢ Add: ionization potential, electron affinity, and electro-negativity for each atom. In addition, it would be nice to have the relative abundance in solar system/earth crust/earth ocean included. One could also add the
visible absorption or emission spectrum + table of wavelengths & oscillator strengths.
â?¢ It would be very cool to have a pop-up graphic for the crystal structures.
â?¢ Eliminate the the "Bohr" planetary model graphic...it's a nice graphic, but misleading since this is not the way anyone (anymore) actually thinks about the electronic structure of atoms.
â?¢ Link to the NIST atomic and molecular database for each atom.
I highly recommend this any chemistry or physics student. I also
recommend this (an the desktop widget) to any chemistry teacher or professor as an in-class tool. I give it excellent marks over all.
