DVD Power Burner for Windows

Used DVD Power Burner for Windows?

Editors’ Review

Download.com staffFebruary 26, 2016

A fully stocked and solidly designed burning application such as DVD Power Burner should be a must-have for any computer user. It boasts a polished, well-designed interface based on the style of Windows XP, an impressive feature set as well as adequate DVD-burning speeds. The program's standard features include the ability to burn and erase DVDs, create ISO files, and create audio, video, and data discs. In addition, DVD Power Burner earns its "power" moniker by including advanced functions such as composing DVDs and packet writing. As a professional touch, the program supports IFO and VOB files. For audio files, we were impressed with the program's ability to rip CDs with good quality, and encode for a number of popular audio file formats (WAV, MP3, OGG, and so on.) To complete this impressive package, DVD Power Burner includes a label designer for your ripped CDs and DVDs that worked well in our tests. The only drawback we discovered is the program doesn't include a help file to assist beginners in the process; that said, the program interface is intuitive enough that we feel this omission doesn't detract from the overall quality of the program.

Pros
Looks fancy and professional. List lots of features.
Cons
Too many serious errors in the software. Destroyed my XP system. I can not recommend this program.
Summary
The program appears neat enough, but it is plagued with errors. It started by freezing the desktop a couple of times causing me to reboot. Then after rebooting several times, I gave up trying to use the software. Shortly after I discovered my registry had been tampered with upon installing the Power DVD application. It altered important core system files that caused the operating system to become unstable. Eventually after several more freezes, I got the blue screen of death. Computer had to be completely reinstalled from scratch, I lost all the data that I didn't have backed up. It was irresponsible for the developers to release something like this. I wish I had read these reviews BEFORE I installed the program.... Unfortunately I saw the 5 star review by CNet and figured it was a sure thing, WRONG. For me, this was a 1star experience and I wish I could sue for my data being lost.

Pros
0 pros it never started up on my computer.
Cons
Once you install it and click the icon it never loads. Then once you restart it your computer doesnt boot windows. Luckily I have vista and it prompts a system restore if such an event happens. Im glad I didnt fall victim to this phony file.

This file should be deleted off this website since its not a legit file program. DONT DOWNLOAD UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR COMPUTER TO BE REFORMATTED
This is the last time I will ever trust cnet.

Pros
NONE. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE ... the system would not let me give this product zero stars.
Cons
1) MY LAPTOP IS NOW A PAPERWEIGHT.
Summary
I downloaded this product, trusting that the editors at cnet knew what they were doing. After allowing the product to install, I restarted my very new laptop and it just restarts in a loop. I've tried all three safe mode options, last good config, etc... nothing works. I just get a blue error screen that flashes long enough to read two words and then it restarts again. Thanks for NOTHING. Avoid this product at all costs!!!!
BIG MISTAKE--Destroyed my new computer and RAID array
hzaJuly 20, 2008
Pros
Cons
And I lost 6 years' worth of data because it screwed up my RAID drivers, and I was just unlucky enough to be reformatting my old archive drives today and had everything temporarily on the array. <p>Believe the reviews, installing this software was the worst computing mistake I've ever made.
