• You're not going to find a better program for free

  Pros

  If I had to pay for it, it would be a GOOD program, but being free, it's a GREAT program. No bugs, works well, great for basic DVD authoring.

  Cons

  You can only use DVD Mpegs, but that's easy to deal with; simply download "Any Video Converter" which is also available on this site for free, and convert the videos you want to burn with this software.

  Summary

  There is no editing or ability to create chapters or chapter menus but it's a great little program for simple jobs. I suspect the other reviewers who said "it can't do this or that" did not take the time to fully explore the abilities of this program. You can customize the DVD menu background with a solid color, gradient fill, or any picture you have in your computer, virtually any picture file format (no support of animation in GIF format). Once you've added videos, you can right-click on the video thumbnail and choose any picture you'd like for a preview or just leave it as-is. You can also re-size the thumbnail preview, add captions, add text boxes, add a background sound (mp3 or wma) to the menu and there IS the ability to save the project. It's the button that says "Save DVD" uh-derr-hey! :) Another nice feature is that it automatically adjusts the video quality to fit it onto the DVD. In other words, you could fit six hours of video or more onto a 4.7GB disc. Altogether, if you're looking to make a Hollywood quality retail DVD, this isn't the program for you, but if you want something for simple jobs with near-full customization, this is a great program.

  I have several types of video to import and burn onto DVDs, so this product was of no help to me.

  Simple to use; menu can be set to 4:3 or 16:9; allows you to alter size of thumbnail

  Can't remove thumbnail or build DVD without menu; can't set chapters; can't save a project.

  Summary

  The layout and interface is simple and tidy. I like the fact that you can set the aspect ratio of the menu, which is something not all freeware DVD authoring programs can do. The program also remembers where you left it when you last closed it (although this can be a bad thing at the same time). Unfortunately, you can't build a DVD without including a menu (although if you wanted to do this you could easily use another DVD program). My main problem with it was that you couldn't remove the thumbnails completely, nor could you set chapters for the individual titles. There is also no way to cancel authoring once it starts compiling the DVD folders. Verdict: A good start to a basic DVD authoring program, but there's room for quite a few improvements.

  Pros

  I liked the easy way to place my video thumbnails on the screen and add titles. <p> <p>it took me less than 20min to burn my dvd compare to cyberlink/powerToGo (over 80min).

  Cons

  there is no indication about how much space we're writing to disk or how much space left to add. I would have loved some indication about time left in the burning process but still is very efficient and does a great free job.
