Engineers and math professionals will appreciate DPlot more than the layperson, but it has features that are useful for all users. Need to create a graph for your PowerPoint presentation or annual report? DPlot can handle this for you. It will create two- and three-dimensional graphs from data inputted into the program.

DPlot is not a program that is understandable without a visit to the Help file. Users who are familiar with engineering and calculation programs may not have the same difficulty using the program as we did, but we needed to read the instructions. The Help file is extensive and there is a section called "Getting Started" that is a good place to begin. We created some test graphs and found that there are many options. You can change the way your graphs look and the way data is displayed. You can add notes at any point on your graph. Graphs can be saved in most graphic file formats so that you can insert them into other documents. You can save your graph as a CSV file, and use it in spreadsheet programs. Macros are an option, so you can also interpolate data with DPlot.

The program offers an ample 30-day trial period. Overall, DPlot might be a bit too challenging for those who are not in analytical fields. Other graphing programs are available that do not require users to have extensive math skills. However, DPlot has a lot to offer for mathematicians and engineers, and we encourage those professionals to give it a shot.

Version 2.3.4.3 has added right-click menu options to the legend of XY plots to snap the legend to one of a graph's four corners.

Fantastic engineering plotting software.

Pros
Easily extends Excel graphing capability. Zooms, hiding curves, easy curve manipulation with math and macros. Can handle huge data sets. Product support from the program writer that will absolutely spoil you.
Cons
Would like some additional capability to support more than two y-axes. It's promised, but again, you'd have to pay 10-20 times more to get that in another package, and you would be missing DPlot's ease of use.
Summary
I've been using this product for over 5 years. It's a fantastic value - it greatly enhances the ability to view and manipulate data. Convenient link to Excel, or can open data sets larger than Excel can handle directly. If you're an engineer and review field data covering many hours of data collection, you need this program.
The best independent graphing software out there.

Easy to create templates, easy to learn macros, easy to edit templates, cram a bunch of useful data into a beautiful plot and then easily cut and paste right into Office 2007. Lacks nothing.
Cons
I haven't found any. I love this program (ver 2.2)
Summary
Concise and clear, professional looking graphs are my business. I produce hundreds of graphs every year for technical papers and this product is absolutely the best, most adaptable software I've found. I'm using version 2.2, the CNET version is extremely outdated.

It has 3D plotting functions, but looked like it is kind of useless to me...does not even help me in plotting out 3D graphs, only show out 2D.

Pros
Fantastic software for the price. Loads huge data sets, or use with Excel. Zoom in, pan, turn curves on and off, data manipulation, labels, notes, equations. Does so many things. Version is up to 2.1.22 (cnet version is old - very old!). David Hyde is very responsive to fixing any bugs, and adding features. Compared to similar programs, this is a bargain.

Pros
plotted box plot that i needed quickly, and i could paste in the values from excel.
Cons
help was not helpful, no instructions on how to do things, whoever is using this must be experienced on computers and feel their way around the program, it takes a lot of trial and error, but it does produce more than the 3 graphs mentioned by another user.
