KillHouse Games developed Door Kickers 2 Task Force North as a real-time tactics game. It’s an Early Access release and improves upon its predecessor, Door Kickers, by spreading the focus to military special operations. 

Innerguarded inscribes the game around a Special Ops team in a Middle Eastern backdrop, armed to preempt threats by well-considered plans. Compared to games like Shadow Tactics: Sticking out among the lot is Doors Kickers 2 Task Force North for its tactical flexibility and destructible environments, like those of Blades of the Shogun or Commandos 2 HD Remaster.

The strategic depth of Door Kickers 2 Task Force North makes the core. Players play missions in real time and can pause and give orders. That gives you an extra tactical advantage against similarly sized tactical games like Company of Heroes 3, which focuses on coordinating large units instead. Door Kickers 2 Task Force North also expands the sense of dynamism because destructible environments let you bash through walls or make a new pathway. By contrast, in games like Wargame, this level of environmental interaction is missing from Red Dragon.

There are different units in the game with their strengths, just as you can choose from a vast amount of weapons and equipment. The loadout customization isn’t far behind Xcom 2’s approximately over 50 items, albeit Door Kickers 2 Task Force North has a more close-quarters focus. It has flexibility between aggressive play and stealth due to night vision and drones, lending itself an unlikeliness for every other tactical title to include.

Those 69 missions range from single-player DLC to cooperative multiplayer 2-4 player scenarios. There is lots of room to hone strategies in this region. Arma 3’s vast open-world missions may be great to experience, but Door Kickers 2 Task Force North gets you into more structured and tighter encounters that are not so distant and, as a result, make it a temple for quicker gameplay.

The multiplayer works in teams, where you will need precise communication if you want to succeed. From Door Kickers 2 Task Force North’s perspective, it’s more cooperative mission planning than things like Rainbow Six Siege with more PvP. It has a mission editor supporting Steam Workshop to allow players to create and share custom content. A feature few competitors offer on that level of detail.

Door Kickers 2 Task Force North has been in Early Access, with some active updates from the developers. A planned campaign mode is planned to add more content. Door Kickers 2 Task Force North's modding flexibility is great, but its rivals, Phoenix Point and Gears Tactics, are truly polished campaigns. The constant development of the game is that it’s a competitive genre in the tactical.

While Door Kickers 2 Task Force North is, on the surface, a simulation of tactical gameplay, there is a lot of customization in that gameplay, and the missions contain enough variety to keep things interesting. This game takes a real-time strategy approach in a way that’s either completely fun or, for some, that just gets in the way.
