Dog Dress Up for iOS

Dog Dress Up features four different dogs and all kinds of fun clothing and accessories kids can use to create the perfect look. They can experiment with different glasses, shirts, shoes, and even backgrounds, and then share the final product on Facebook, or via e-mail or SMS.

This app has a straightforward and attractive interface that's no problem for kids to work with. There are quite a few pop-up ads, though, which take away from the user experience a bit. When the app first opens, there is a short introduction that you can skip if you want. It features each dog stating their case for why they should be the chosen one. After that intro, the main menu screen appears, with each of the four possible dogs sitting in their doghouses awaiting selection. The options include a bulldog, a poodle, a beagle, and a chihuahua. Once your child picks their dog, they'll go to the accessorizing screen, where the dog will appear in the middle, with buttons running down both sides of the screen, providing access to the different types of clothes and other items available. Tapping the hat button, for example, puts one kind of hat on the dog, and tapping it again brings up another one. Kids can just rotate through the options until they find the one they want. In addition to hats, there are also different types of glasses, jewelry, shirts, pants, shoes, accessories, and scenery to choose from. And the shuffle button will just produce a random combination of clothes and other items for the dog.

This app is free, but the bulldog is the only option available to start with. You can unlock each other type of dog for $0.99 each, or unlock all dogs for $1.99. Overall, this app could be a fun distraction for a little while, although it would be nice to have a few more free dog options.
