Pros
Multiple snapshots of any files, from minutes to days apart. Multiple destinations. Shields any source on your PC (local, network, flash) to any destination, including ftp sites. Super, easy recovery of any past snapshot. VERY low use of CPU.
Cons
Stays in the taskbar.
Summary
For such a small installation (~ 1 meg), DocShield has it all. It protects your docs, presentations, anything that you prepare over time and don't want to lose.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Aug 19, 2011<p/>Another plus! Contacting the with questions, even for this free version, is fast--overnight response. They told me how to not have the program appear in the task bar. Extremely useful backup tool for individual documents.

Pros
Monitors changes to documents and creates a compressed archive containing snapshots of the files taken at specified intervals. I make regular updates to a speadsheet and this software provides a simple method of archiving the old versions.
Cons
The shield check interval (x seconds to x hours) is defined by the user and this set time period restarts whenever the software is loaded. However, it would also be useful to be able to schedule a shield check at specified times of the day or week.
Summary
Docshield is easy to install and configure, with a variety of options to control the size of the compressed archive. It avoids having to save archive documents under different names or in multiple folders, and instead keeps the files all together in chronological order. Retrieval of documents is straightforward. The personal edition is FREEWARE. Highly recommended.
