  Cheaper than a good product. Friendly (not useful) replies.

  bad output, unfriendly interface, weird support. Useless for actual work we need to do.

  Summary

  If you have a business, you can not afford to have a product this bad. The price of Acrobat is much lower now and it works great. I am tossing this investment in the trash.

  Works if you can get it to install correctly.

  Docudesk is worthless. I installed a new hard drive and it said I had to reactivate it so I found my activation code and then it said I had installed it too many times(?). I finally gave in and purchased it again. Well I got an email receipt that said "activation code: ". So I emailed support and they still haven't gotten back with me. The worst part if the activation screen instructions: "IF you have received an activation code enter it in the box below." There should never be an "if".

  Summary

  Screw this company. Just pirate it if you have to have it, because if you pay for it there is no guarantee it will work.

  I am done with Docudesk. Downloaded the new version for my new computer. Used my previously purchased activation key and it barfed and sent me to Docudesk as it does for all of their products. Then you have to enter all your info and then you have to wait until they deign to get back to you with a new code. Well, I am not waiting this time. I have deleted all my Docudesk products and will look at the other, plentiful (some free) options.

  Nothing positive of this product. its totally unusable for me.

  Nothing of the output file is useable to me... i converted a pdf bank statement to excel in the hope that I can at least cut and paste the figures into cell entries... Again what a waste of time and effort.

• Really excellent & complete product - I have tried many

  Pros

  Very good and accurate converson from .pdf to many other formats, with excellent front end interface to allow you to choose many options (if needed). Not only does the basics, has huge range of options for the power user. The formatting in the new file type (e.g. word. ppt, excel, etc) is very good. Specially nice is that the conversion output is done at a character level, so editing and manipulation in the new format is easy. Diagrams and graphics are also well converted as pictures that can sometimes be edited too. I work in research and do a lot of document scanning, and have used various .pdf converters for about 5 years, and tried probably all the main ones available. This is without doubt my preferred product, which is why I am writing this review. Also, the online support is very good - i have made a few technical enquiries and always have had a full response back in a few hours. This is very important, if like me you are working to deadlines.

  Cons

  To be frank, I can't think of any flaws. Maybe some more options on handling graphic images, but this is more a restriction resulting output format application rather than the docudesk converter(e.g. word or .ppt)

  Summary

  This is a really really good product if you want to convert a .pdf file to another format, and then use the content in that other format, such as converting a table of numbers into excel, or a .pdf presentation into word, etc. It is easy to use, has a big range of options, and the online support is excellent. As a long-time user of .pdf file converters, this is certainly the best I have used, by a long shot. I have no hesitation in recommending it. I am sure it will work really well for you, which is why I am writing this review.

  Well it did transfer the illustrations well and the layout sure is fancy. You do get enough trys on the freebee to see if you like it or not.

  Cons

  Trouble reaching customer care - a whole day to reply and a phone call went to voicemail. Min problem when using the OCR or PDF to Word I had trouble in all modes to get the text working.

  Summary

  Picked up the titles but the paragraphs were all missing although the words showed up in the ghost tables before doing the conversion - yet after the conversion they would never appear. The tech help who did get back to me a day later had the same results but failed to offer any solution. I did try another lower cost one which worked great for the text but then the photos were bad - you never win!

• Saves Hours for PDF to Excel

  I work in finance and we often get reports in PDF. I hate it because i have to edit these often and reuse the table information. deskUNPDF is AWESOME. I open my PDFs in deskUNPDF and convert to Excel and get my data in Excel.

  Cons

  Large documents can take a while, which I guess is to be expected. Had an 800 page document that had to churn for almost 10 minutes. Tried Able2extract to compare performance and it crashed so its not as bad as I make out.

  Summary

  If I only need one table converted I just selected the area of the page and click convert!!! Phenomenal functionality - saves tons of time!

  Summary

  I have tried many programs to convert PDF's back to other formats. Most products do it in a sort of a fashion but UNPDF does it all without a hitch and the formatting is 100% every time. Even the program that makes the PDF document in the first place (Yes Adobe) can?t convert the document back to the way it was in the first place (UNPDF can). After version 5 of Adobe Writer, V6+ couldn?t convert a PDF back to RTF the way I required so I had to stick with version 5 for a couple of years but then it couldn?t handle some newer versions of PDF?s. That?s when I started searching and trying numerous conversion programs (even buying some) but none seem to do what I wanted 100%. That was until I came across UNPDF. This program has saved me literally days of work on each project that I work on. Part of my project is I convert PDF?s to HTML and XML and I am talking about very large documents up to 5,000 pages at a time. This program has never let me down ? it has worked flawlessly. The price paid is in my opinion very affordable and is cheaper than most of the alternatives yet it handles what I throw at it with the utmost of ease. I have been using this program for 6 months now and use it two to three times a week ? It is intuitive ? and easy to use. I tried a trial version first and bought it the same day ? it impressed me from day one.
