Desktop Calendar is attractive, very easy to use, and doesn't overwhelm with extras. In fact, its chief virtue may be that it's about as close to a paper wall calendar as a Windows calendar app can get: Just right-click any cell to record appointments, upcoming events, or anything you might write on a wall calendar.

Pros

Attractive: Desktop Calendar's default look is pleasing, but we could also customize backgrounds, cells, colors, opacity, fonts, rows, separation of months, and more. Selecting Festivals displays common holidays.

Easy to use: Right-click any cell to enter or edit text, and then click the color icon to choose a custom background color, so it stands out. Click the checkmark when you're done.

Not overwhelming: We like Desktop Calendar's subtle looks and clutter-free approach.

Cons

Too basic: While less is more with Desktop Calendar, some users may find it lacks too many useful or expected features.

No hotkeys: We expected to see hotkey combos to show and hide the calendar, but apparently (and unfortunately) Desktop Calendar lacks them.

Bottom Line

Desktop Calendar is not the best choice if you need all the bells and whistles. It's just a nice desktop version of the tested-and-true wall calendar.

Pros
It overlays the desktop that is there currently. It is not overpowering to look at.
Cons
It would be nice to be able to minimize it to a smaller calendar that could be moved around the desktop as needed.

I have been looking for a desktop calendar for a long time and this one is pretty good. I would recommend it.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Oct 3, 2013<p/>This is the second time I downloaded this desktop calendar. (I just got a new desktop so I needed to do it again!) It is working great and I would recommend it to everyone. It is not overpowering on the desktop.

Pros
This app is a 'sweet calendar' at the crack. Its simple design never looks out of place on the desktop and it's easy to use. But...
Cons
It has errors. It closes Explorer windows and Web browsers because of some weird "prograsm" of its own. This occurs every time the calendar is opened. Plus, the desktop button that calls the calendar out of hiding cannot be fixed in place and is always in the way of other windows. Too rude.
Summary
There must be a shortage of pride in the world. We'll never have enough human's determined to not be silly.
