Delimit is a software tool, for the Windows platform, developed to handle huge CSV and TAB delimited files, millions of rows or columns large. Files can be delimited by characters such as commas or tabs, delimited by strings, or delimited in fixed column widths. Delimit can open, view, edit, save, search, extract, export, convert, split-up, and join huge CSV and tab delimited files with ease. Open and edit files much larger than possible with Excel. Up to 2 billion rows and 2 million columns. Open files much faster than in Excel; instantaneously after indexing, files 100's of MBs, even GBs, in size. Easily split-up or join files on row or column boundaries, not binary ones. Automatically parse files into columns with user configurable parsing rules. Easily convert files from one delimiter (like CSV) to another (like TAB). Easily extract rows using expressions based on row content. Easily extract, repeat, reverse or reorder columns or ranges of columns. Easily bookmark cells for fast access to key information anywhere in the file. Easily search or count occurrences of items throughout the file. Easily determine file dimensions as total number of rows and columns.

Good product but bad licensing

Pros
Fast loading of large files Can pause and resume operations Automatically picks up on delimiters used For fixed width files, can specify column widths in a comma separated list Can allow for consecutive delimiters to be treated as a single separator
Cons
Can only install the pro version on 2 computers There is no deactivate button, you have to call or email the company to deactivate, as well as to then reactivate. They cap you at 2 activations and provide no means of deactivating. The license should either be per user as more programs are doing in these non-1990s days or allow for online activation AND deactivation of installations (like Office 365, for example).
Summary
The program is really only usable for its free features because if you use sandboxes or multiple devices, or ever reformat your computer, you're basically screwed. A good program isn't useful if you can't use it.
Great tool for handling large files

Pros
I need to handle raw flat datasets that come into large chucks before loading them into PostgreSQL. Delimit is an invaluable tool for accessing the raw data. In the age of big data, it is disappointing to see that MS-Windows Notepad, Notepad++, and others alike did not keep pace with the demands for managing large files. Delimit fills the gap. Plus, it is light, simple, and easy. No frills. It DOES the job!

Pros
If you need to manipulate large csv files, Delimit is really handy. Had a csv file with over two million rows and couldn't open it in Excel. As far as I know, Delimit has no restrictions on file size. It worked perfectly. I tried several others but liked Delimit most.
Cons
Nothing important comes to mind. It's a simple program built for specific tasks.

Pros
Extracting specific data is a breeze with powerful inbuilt expressions. The file manipulation tools make hard tasks seem ridiculously easy. The ability to handle huge files is a real bonus. If you work with csv files, this tool is a "must have".
Cons
None to speak of. Launching from command line (with switches) for automating repetitive tasks might be useful, but not essential.
Summary
I just love it. It's saved me hours of hard work crunching smaller files using excel, and does a much better job of it.
