Perform date and time calculations useful to genealogists.

n the Date Calculator, you can enter any date and convert it between Gregorian, Julian, Hebrew, and French Republic and find its day of the week. You can enter two dates and find the time span between them. You can do various other date and time calculations and conversions as well. A unique feature of the Date Calculator versus other date utilities is that you can enter "fuzzy" dates, like just a month and year (APR 1901) or a range of dates (FROM 1845 to 1867), an still do calculations. The calculations will give all possible answers for the date and time information provided. Being able to do calculations with imprecise dates and time spans is a very useful tool for genealogists working with imprecise date information.

I think John Nairn's GEDitCOM is amazing, and the Mac OS 9 freeware version of this application was extremely useful. Unfortunately, that's where I run into the glaring problem. For me, at least, this software is extremely user-unfriendly. Type in 148 days, and it tells you it doesn't know what a day is, but even if you accommodate yourself to the 148d thing, it will eventually even tell you occasionally that it doesn't get '148d'. THe 'Enter' key doesn't seem to have been matched to the Return key for easier keyboard entry. And there's about a hundred other problems. I'd love to see a great, decent date calculation program out there. I must respectfully and with great regret say that this application in its current incarnation is nowhere near that adjective.
