Mysteriously-financed expeditions are setting out from locations all over the world to open up hitherto unexplored regions of the world to the so-called civilized world. Fame and fortune is foremost in the minds of the expedition crews - the fortune through merciless exploitation of any resources that they're hoping to find, closely followed by the (doubtful) chance of gaining scientific fame. A huge storm has driven the expedition of the Hon. Prof. Dr. Flemming far off course - to a chain of islands off the Sumatran coast. The members of the research team are really grateful that they've escaped death in the storm-tossed ocean - but they're also so happy to be the first humans to set foot on this island jungle paradise. Hold it! Did we say paradise? WRONG! Something very old and very evil has this island under its awful spell!
