This brings it to the immediate attention of all the people connected to the site with the cyn.in desktop client. You can search for items on your cyn.in site directly from your cyn.in desktop. Pros
cyn.in Desktop delivers the activity stream to the cyn.in users. Users can preview the content modifications and add comments right there, the comments and re-comments takes place around a ?Context? and gets structured as ?Threaded Discussion?.
Cons
This is not a stand alone App. cyn.in Desktop is integrated with cyn.in collaboration software. There are no Cons for the app as its been developed to act as Desktop Client. cyn.in main software can be downloaded here: http://cyn.in
Summary
Cyn.in is an Open Source Group Collaboration software for the enterprise2.0. cyn.in has core collaboration applications like wiki, blogs, workspaces, file repositories, media repositories, shared Calendar, contextual discussion, Search, linkd directory, and Workflow (Role based Access Control). Users are created in cyn.in main site and their access rights are provided to them based upon their role in the organizational hierarchy. Cyn.in Desktop (an Adobe AIR app) inherits user?s workflow (access rights) from main cyn.in site and delivers the activity stream to the authorized users. Activities e.g. If someone uploads a file in cyn.in main site, the other authorized users receives a notification from cyn.in desktop and can instantly comment (Tweet) on the content. Similarly another authorized co-worker can add new comment on the same content OR can reply to previous comment (Re-Tweet). The important thing here is that the comments and re-comments (Tweets or Re-tweets) here takes place around a ?Context? and gets structured in ?Threaded Discussion? form attached to the content container as ?discussion?. Cyn.in collaboration software with cyn.in Desktop app is a beautiful example of Enterprise2.0 software. Our Finding about the software are as follows: It is easy to use software. There is almost no learning involve in using it. It has all the possible collaboration application in-built Saves Time in searching for Information cyn.in usage reduces internal E-mailing among the co-workers. Effective and enhanced internal communication Creation of collaborative organizational knowledge viz, process, expertise etc It is affordable as compare to other collaboration software Cyn.in Desktop acts as Status Message for employees and facilitates quick discussion.
