• biggest waste of money since pc's began

  it works . . . well most of it, clean rips in a few formats simple design makes easy enough to get used to quickly

  $40 was very expensive (even for a good music editor) so this was an amazing price fail. the tag editor is laughable, having ripped 3 very popular albums to test this program, the error ratio was around 50% (Considering its earlier version 5 was 95% right this is strange how a newer version can actually go backwards). version 5 of media toolbox was free with the hardware purchased and was the best cd ripper & player ever, so creative have come up with version 6, and stepped back to a time pcs began ripping, in fact i've kept better free music editors/players than this, and all for the price of $40.

  in summary this has been the biggest disappointed since upgrading to wins 8.1. the 1 star was the lowest i could offer this software and even that was too high. DO NOT buy this software for $40 there are far better products to choose from. creative kinda forced me to buy a new soundcard as my titanium x-fi was not well supported on wins 8.1, and media toolbox 5 does not allow cddb on cd loading on wins 8.1 having purchased the z series hardware iam now searching for some decent software to use on my new hardware as i have deleted media toolbox 6 and accepted my money is gone, having contacted creative i was told that is how it is on media toolbox 6, just steer clear of this product, if you dont believe just use the trial and waste your time

  It would be nice if someone at Creative knew what they are doing. I have never seen a bunch of stupid people anywhere. I keep paying for products that don't work most of the time.

• Great, but strange file type mismatch

  Pros

  Records audio files from audio input jacks on your computer. Seems to integrate seamlessly with Windows operating systems. Also allows for timed recording, noise reduction, splitting larger files into smaller tracks, equalization, tag editing and file type conversion. I'm using it, with a Pyle Pro pre-amp and turntable to turn my vynal into audio files.

  Cons

  Bafflingly, it records tracks as WAV files with tags that are uneditable, even by the utilities this product comes with. Repeat, it is unable to edit the tags on the files it creates itself. First, you have to use the convert function to change the WAV files to MP3s. Only then can you use the other utilities to update the files you've created. It baffles me why they would make such a step mandatory. It means both wasted time and losing one generation to get a file that you can manipulate and tag.

  Summary

  I love what it does do and the price isn't bad. But, for me, it took me awhile to get over my feeling of infuriation over the file type mismatch thing.
